HDD recovery Software

Hi there,

I need some ninja data recovery tools to try and salvage a friends hdd that crashed.
I tried to use the ISkysoft data recovery trial and I can see most of the files but I dont really want to buy the tool.

Is there any tools out there that might be good that is free?

Oh, no...
Do not run CHKDSK unless you are absolutely sure a hardware is good.

Quick surface scan and if there are any delays/bads found, then do full disk imaging. Do recovery on the copy.

Hirens boot CD then boot into parted magic.

I tried Recuva, It worked 5/10.. Most files were already corrupted
