HDPVR Program Guide

The program guide on my HDPVR takes forever to load. It is I view by time, there is often gaps and the information barely goes beyond the day. One has to wait for it to load. If you view by channel, it's even worse.

While watching a movie, if you press "i" the program guide is incomplete, barely goes 1 hour in advance or 1 or two movies in advance.

Signal strength at 98%, signal quality at 100%. Strength drops to 80% in extreme weather but never lower than 80%.

This has only recently started happening.

Any advice?

I have a SATCR LNB. Single cable from 90cm alum. dish. Second output on SATCR to normal decoder is not used.

It was fine up until a few days ago. Also had a reset about a week ago ... the settings on the HDPVR changed on their own, I had to go in and select SATCR again.

Did you do anything at the dish? Maybe the skew of the LNB is slightly out... also, try to rescan.

Did not touch the dish. Both signal strength and quality is high (98% and 100% respectively). If the dish angle was out or the offset on LNB was out then the signal strength would be down?

Just checked ... signal strength is 98%, but quality is down to 80%. Cloudy and clouds are heavy with rain. Did a rescan. Went to program guide and there are no programs after 13h00 today. Generally have to wait a while for it to load. This is definitely not how it used to be.

If the skew of the LNB is out, you will still have the strength, but the quality will be down. Looks like this might be the issue. With our SatCR LNB's... if you look at the dish from the front, LNB must point down to the right in the 15h30 / 16h00 area.

That may be it. Just checked, the skew on the LNB is about 16h30. I haven't changed it since installation. Maybe it is a few degrees out.

The signal quality was always 80 to 100% ... most of the time on 100%.

I will pull out the ladder and check it on the weekend.

I think Multichoice are doing something with the signal. Just got home and it asked to be rescanned. I had to go through the setup all over again. What the hell?

I will set our demo up with a SatCR tomorrow an d keep an eye on it for a few days. If it's Multichoice doing something, I should experience problems too.

Thanks QT.

I also notice that even though it loads the programs in program guide, view by channel mode. If you go back to it later, it has to reload? Seldom has more than a few hours in without having to reload the information.

Previously you could quickly scroll through a whole week without noticing missing programs.

Will wait to hear from you.

My signal quality was back up to 90 - 100% this evening. Signal strength remains unchanged on 98%.

I will reboot the machine a bit later this evening.
