Hello All

I am looking to buy a set up headphones for no more than R450.

I would like some advise as I am not extremely knowledgeable in this department.

Things they must be able to do:
Block out most external noise (will be studying with them).
Have good to great sound quality
Fit over my ears and be comfortable.

I am in the Cape Town area (More specifically, Durbanville).

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

To be honest, you won't get much for that price... But, saying this, Musica offer a decent set of Sony cans. Can't remember the exact model name and code, but I do remember them going for R450. A friend had a pair, and they match your requirements.

Unless, by luck, you are able to find someone willing to part with their Sennheiser HD202's. A rather decent budget headphone.

How sensitive are you to accuracy at the mids?

This wins hands-down!
I had the hd202s for a while and wasn't impressed. They leak awfully and don't have a good fit on my head. And I couldn't even say the audio was that great.

I experience the exact opposite, and I didn't expect them to be any good...

Mine work great. I use them via an Alesis io|14 Firewire sound card. Audio is crisp, and bass is good. There isn't anything in the price category that can match them.

Oh, I never tried them before. Since I require a mic. But, people always mention it as a cheap headies to get? Maybe because the more expensive options are that good.

What else is their in this pricerange?

Okay so I'm a lone sparrow on a rooftop with my displeasure over the 202s.

Do you have an alternative for R450-R500?

I haven't gone enough in depth. The 202s are fine cans but I found the fit to be quite loose for one, and secondly - and much more importantly - the 3m cable was tremendously inconvenient for active wear. I always had to tie it in a knot to keep from dragging out of my pocket. If you intend to use them in anything other than a sedentary context you'll find that their bulk and the cable length annoy you.

how about the Behringers?
