Thank you. So neither will let me down is what I am seeing :D

I am looking around a tad more.

I haven't gone enough in depth. The 202s are fine cans but I found the fit to be quite loose for one, and secondly - and much more importantly - the 3m cable was tremendously inconvenient for active wear. I always had to tie it in a knot to keep from dragging out of my pocket. If you intend to use them in anything other than a sedentary context you'll find that their bulk and the cable length annoy you.

how about the Behringers?

I can't find a review of these that compares with the two above.

what would you guys advise if I was to up the price range to anything below R600?

The 202's are not designed for active use.

They are far more audiophile than the rest.
Sennheiser HD 202 I use as DJ cans, they're also more than sufficient if you're not after anything expensive.

Thank you. I will go have a listen / feel of both and then buy the one that I rate as the best.

I experience the exact opposite, and I didn't expect them to be any good...

Me too. I still have mine (HD 202 MK2). Paid R350 for it a few years back. Excellent headphones. Feels amazing on my head/ears and the sound is great!

Unless you go jogging with it like Cerebus somehow does.

For normal use, the 202's are excellent and unmatched at their price.

Not for jogging. Just trying to walk down the street, go on the bus, do my general day's activities wearing them. Unless normal use for you means sitting in a couch.

Ok slight highjack but which good headphones ( with mic ) comes with a detachable ( hence replace-able ) cable ?
Or maybe wireless with its on charging base ?

USB or 3.5 , doesn't really matter . Actually I think having it's own built in card might beat my crappy onboard . Not that I can hear much , but the little I can I don't like :p

What might be a useful tip for anyone else following this thread and looking for cheap headphones, is that the Musica stores often have a bargain bin at the back somewhere, and inevitably there are a few good sets of headphones available in them, end-of-line stuff. I got a pretty well-reviewed set of Frogz Coda headphones for just R299 the other week, reduced from R399. Surprising what you might find in there!

Review ? :D

EDIT : Is R350 an in store special ? Its R450 online...

I like them and although they leak a bit of sound they fit comfortably. The sound as far as I can tell is clear and I feel for R350 it is a bargain.

It was the last pair so I asked if I could get discount and the manager said I could take them for R350.

No, you are right- the cord is excessively long. Other than that, I have found them fine for my usage (sitting at my desk in the office).

They leak, but not too awfully. Then again, I have never tried them outdoors, but I do suspect that they would be rather terrible in that situation.

90% of the time I listen to electronic music (electro house, hardstyle, hardtrance, eurotrance, etc.)

I currently own this R699 set ...

http://www.takealot.com/tv-audio-video/ifrogz-audio-frequency-black,29729112

which I paid R199 for on an one day special at the time.

The main thing for me is kick. I like a good bass kick. Nice and thumpy.

The ifrogz are really good sounding headphones and the bass is nice... but juuuuuust not enough. I just needed a little bit louder with a slightly better kick.

So now I'm reading about the HD202 II and I'm wondering how it will compare or if there's something else in a similar price range more suited for electronic music (140BPM kicks).

2nd hand but well worth it imo.
Unless you want to spend more then I'd suggest beyerdynamics DT770 or 990 Pro.
