How severe is the hearing loss? Has your grandpa seen an audiologist yet?

Good to hear.

There are a lot of different devices on the market ranging from quite inexpensive to extremely expensive, depending what you want.

Your audiologist will be able to advise you properly. Depending on the severity of the hearing loss in the ear and the size of the ear canal you may be able to get a very small hearing aid which is almost completely hidden.

A hearing aid can make a big very big difference in everyday life, bigger than you may think. That is if you overcome the aesthetic aspects of the device.

Yes the audiologist will make a recommendation. I'm in the process of getting aids for my kid. She's getting the internal ones @ just over 8k and that's not even considered expensive aids.

And unfortunately medical aids don't pay much for hearnig aids. In my experience anyway..

Sometimes the in ear ones can be difficult to adapt to, especially for older people. My mom insisted on the most expensive ones money can buy but doesn't wear them because she just could not get used to them.

If necessary he should consider the old fashioned ones that fit behind the ear. I'm told they're very comfortable.
