Hearthstone: Discussion, Tips, Tactics and Player List

Just started playing Hearthstone and find it great fun.

Especially like the fact that I can play it on the PC or iPad (lying in bed while watching TV) <---- happy spouse

Playing using 'gold' only - not spending real money to buy card packs.

Currently playing primarily as Mage.

Similarly to D3, I'm happy to maintain a list of MyBB Hearthstone Players (such a noob I don't even know if you can challenge your friends directly or rely only on the ingame matching engine)

Tip: Playing on iPad

Lightly hold and drag your special power to activate it.

My first couple of games I was holding my finger down too long and the description would show but I couldn't get the thing to activate - lost a few games before I figured out what I was doing wrong

Playing it since Beta and love it. Did spend about R400 in the beginning to get me going , but after that only using gold, saving up for the new expansion now.

been playing for free since beta. spend real money to play 1 arena game. so I can unlock the golden legend.

reached legend in the lat season of beta, and life has been in the way since then, not spending enough time to make legend.

I have been saving up gold for Naxx for just over 2 months, and I bought the entire expansion with gold at the beginning.

the game is awesome, as an Ex magic the gathering player I can say its more fun than MTG

You can indeed play vs friends, you just have to toggle an option to allow it (I think it's disabled by default).

Druid

Played a lot in Closed Beta, and just started playing again now with the Naxx things. Mostly played Arena as Constructed just annoys me with all the kiddo's spending 2k on cards.

1st 2 wings of the naxx thing has been ok. Pretty easy but some nice fight features that you obviously won't run into anywhere else.

Currently playing DragonPriest, having some success, got to rank 12, but keep losing to Jade Druid. What is everyone's viewpoint on the current deck options for beating the meta?

I'm playing DragonPriest and AggroRogue.

You have to be able to defend against the early burst damage from Pirate Warrior, and, if you build a wall of taunts against the JadeDruids you can beat them.

I stopped playing for a few months last year.
I have never really been tied to a deck or a class.


what I have found is that there is actually only 3 decks right now.
pirate (warrior or Shaman)
Dragon (priest or Warrior)
Miracle (Druid and Rougue)

if you are playing pirate warrior, dragon priest is highly favoured to beat you. and the miracle decks if they have enough control in the early game is also un-winable.
the dragon decks cannot win against the jade decks if the game goes long. if Druid gets to "go off" they have more cards in the deck, and indefinite massive golems.

I also feel like Hunter and Mage is terrible and having those quests mean you basically need to wait for the tavern brawl.

Highest rank I've managed to achieve was R5 with PirateWarrior (during my Gold Warrior Quest)

Also currently playing Dragon Priest, on rank 9.

With the current Pirate Warrior meta it's a bit hit and miss. If you can draw your taunts to save the onslaught to your face (Wyrmrest Agent, Twilight Guardian), it's GGWP. Because once you start unleashing your midrange minions and AoE spells, they don't stand a chance.

With Druid it's a bit trickier. You still have to get your taunts up, while keeping the board clear and going for face. You need to make make the best use of your midrange cards before he can get to turn 10, and start spamming Gadgetzan Auctioneer + cheap spells.

Lot's of people complaining about the current meta. Druid is ok if they nerf the Jade Idol. But Pirate Warrior is ridiculous. It's boring to play with and against.
