Heatwave: City of Cape Town issues safety warning as numbers at pools expected to swell

its a normal summer here so far, it usually gets MUCH worse than this

but then again its a warning from the CITY, they clearly know best

The Newlands pool has been closed since water restrictions in 2017, and never reopened. The council washed their hands of this site. Edit: Opened the spring water filling station instead.

The warning is about the risk of drowning, not the heat itself however unpleasant it may be.

This was the temp when I started up my car at 6h30 this morning. No way stellenbosch has a high of 27 today.

The temperature isn't measured in the sun or in locations that trap heat. So the actual temperature people experience out in the sun or in a building without air conditioning or a car can be much higher.
 
There is a raging South Easter along the coast, so it is cooler (but humid) in the west. Much warmer inland and away from the coast.
