Octotel stayed up since 3:40am without a hiccup - really impressed with their network. Mobile networks were already dead by 8am for data, only SMS going through. You live in a dump, move.
Here MTN goes missing. But Telkom and Fibre seems to stay online. Telkom being the most reliable.
My fok. They now steel cables in Cape Town ? Fcking pests.
They should consider running electricity down them or something. My fok. They now steel cables in Cape Town ? Fcking pests.
So who's the culprits down that side ?They should consider running electricity down them or something.
Wonder when we getting good satellite, surely that should stay online?Octotel stayed up since 3:40am without a hiccup - really impressed with their network. Mobile networks were already dead by 8am for data, only SMS going through.
Sabotage. There are people who wants to see the country burn and enrich the dictators. My fok. They now steel cables in Cape Town ? Fcking pests.
Agree.Sabotage. There are people who wants to see the country burn and enrich the dictators.
All WFH employees should have an inverter or battery pack as a minimum requirement.
That won't help.
Cellphone tower batteries get stolen country wise. I have absolutely no connectivity during loadshedding on any network. Even my fibre goes down.
You live in a dump, move.
I live next to Durbanville so we share the same towers.Sounds like a one-horse town / one-tower burb.
Drizzling at the moment. Haven't see proper rain in Durbanville in a while.I live next to Durbanville so we share the same towers.
@dualmeister @Affieplaas do you have any cell towers working when it rains?

Damn! The rain has me all confused. I meant when there is loadshedding, not when it rainsDrizzling at the moment. Haven't see proper rain in Durbanville in a while.
I live about 100m away from the tower located on the Durbanville golf course. This is what I get at the moment with Eskom up and a slight drizzle. When Eskom goes down I can't even open the speedtest app.

If the power goes, I have zero data connectivity on MTN. Even standard voice calls drop and the quality is so bad I can hardly hear the person on the other side.Damn! The rain has me all confused. I meant when there is loadshedding, not when it rains![]()

Same here and I have tested MTN, Vodascam and TM. No signal. It just displays "Emergency Calls Only". I don't have a CellC SIM to test them.If the power goes, I have zero data connectivity on MTN. MTN is always dead when there is a outage here. It is better now. Vodacom is okay. The landlines in my area are inoperable since early morning. My ONT wants to know nothing. Almost no communication could have been made today. This is a problem when backup power cannot provide continuity. If the power goes, I have zero data connectivity on MTN.
