Friends of mine can’t leave their complex because the gate won’t open and no-one has the key to operate it manually.

Someone connect a battery to the gate motor as a temp measure to open it in the meantime?

Octotel stayed up since 3:40am without a hiccup - really impressed with their network. Mobile networks were already dead by 8am for data, only SMS going through.

Well that's just silly. Besides Eskom, anything can happen for it to get stuck or have battery issues. Stupid management , do they work at Eskom as well?

If they don't have the key to put in manual I am sure they also don't have the key to open it and connect the battery.

Nowadays the motor is protected by a cage with it's own key before you even get to worry about the key for the motor.

The theft looks to have gone out of fashion lately.
