Helen Zille: 100Mbps broadband for everyone

The DA certainly values education and information availability, which is the exact opposite from the current government that thrives and survives on the vote of the uneducated.

Mrs Zille , I hope you understand that anybody who follows telecommunications news is a little jaded and cynical by all the promises that have been broken and forgotten, so for this reason it would be so very good to see something more substantial than words.

Wish politicians would refrain from making such promises.

A lot happens in that timeframe and her successors may completely change direction with this.

I already have fiber running running past my house, can I please just dig it up and connect my network to it aunty Helen? :)

This is good news. What parts of Cape Town fit into the Cape Town metropolitan area though?

Within the next two years, as part of a pilot project, we aim to create the largest mesh network in the world that will have connected all households in Khayelitsha, Mitchell’s Plain and Saldanha Bay...

Christ, Zille, if you were any use as a politician you'd know giving the people what they need is the way to get elected. And the majority of people in Khayelitsha, Mitchell’s Plain and Saldanha Bay do not NEED fast Internet, or in fact ANY Internet access at all!

Why not create the pilot project in an area that NEEDS and WANTS fast Internet so that people will actually pay for it and use it, while building the houses and infrastructure in the aforementioned areas that NEED them?

The DA gets my vote... for stupidity.
