To continue the debate, I think you should start providing links to reliable sources, and without that I'd just consider it rantings of someone with a personal grudge.

While on the topic of service delivery. Please make sure that when you are blaming a party e.g. the city, for the lack of services or homes, that you are indeed blaming the correct party.

Safety/Security for example, if I understand correctly, is a provincial competency not a city led responsiblity. The city as far as a I know can help with alleviating crime in the CBD but have no power otherwise. Police stations are a provincial responsiblity run nationally by the SAPS/ANC/Selebi aka "I can like to be having lunch with criminals"

Housing: The city has very little power when it comes to housing. In fact the ANC booted the DA off some of the N2 housing projects, fearing that the DA may actually do better. Housing therefore remains a provincial responsibility i.e. ANC.
e.g. certain construction companies responsible for N2 gateway housing projects have no previous experience in delivering homes while some have gone bankrupt!

These are just two areas. So before the "the city is doing nothing against crime" or the "the city is not providing homes for the poor" or " the city is not releasing land for the poor", make sure who is actually in control of those departments.

Another example: roads! its the provincial government/ANC's job to maintain most roads e.g. koeberg interchange is a provincial project.

Long story short. Blame the right people.

How did I personalise anything? You painted Helen Zille with your opinion, and harbour a lot of bitterness toowards her because your cushy neighbourhood isn't being put ahead of a township and you're not getting a response to your email. We're all subsidising township dwellers in this country. It's called redistribution of wealth. So what?

I have several issues with your argument.
WHY should the maintenance of our neighbourhood be put below that of the township people? Are we living in a democracy, a capitalistic society or have we reverted to the promised Marxism? I look forward to your reply on that score. Bear in mind that many if not the majority of the township folk have come here from the E.Cape in search of a better life. Let's call them economic migrants. Question some of them, and you may even find that they have another home in the E.Cape - to which their money goes.

If Zille's council cannot answer an e-mail for months and months, and sometimes years, then why do they say they will? Helen Zille is prime culprit, though she will BOLDLY write in the newspaper that she answers ALL her correspondence diligently. This is a blatant LIE, which explains her botox obsession with image rather than delivery.

Why does the council have a policy that promises a response withing 24Hrs if they never intend to follow through?

The Cape is a RICH province. We have a large income from tourists as well. The council therefore has MORE money to spend. Can we really compare ourselves to more rural provinces - no of course not. We SHOULD be one of the best-run provinces and claiming we are GREAT because the others are a bad lot doesn't cut it for me.

To make matters worse. Not only do they expect us to maintain our own patch of council property, the council is now launching an attack on those who improved it with bricks, flower boxes, driveway access etc. I have never entirely approved of that, but they can't have it both ways.
