Adios DA.

I'll now become one of those people who complain but never vote. It is my right to complain as much as I like.

Sorry to say, this country has become a complete political joke. There is simply no longer any political center with any of the common sense or maturity required to run a functioning country responsibly. I'm sure there are a lot of people who will comment here that "yes, but Zille was insensitive to tweet her observations on colonialism" but you know what, from the objectivity and context of where I am (temporarily on the other side of the world in an ex-colonized country that functions a heck of a lot better than SA) that all just seems like childish irrelevant garbage. It is funny how from a distance you can see with such clarity how a country is doomed by sheer stupidity.

Do you think the rest of the world is a political inspiration?

Politics and politicians are dirty. Some (way) more than others.

Now, I don't follow politics much, but this seems like a publicity/public declaration thingg by the party.

“This has not been an easy decision. But, as the leader, I must do what is right for the party and South Africa.”
Ie. "Yes, we have removed the white (possibly racist) ex-figurehead of the DA. She is no longer the leader. I, a young Black man, am the leader. We can now go forward knowing that Whites do not run this party."

And I think I'm actually perfectly fine with that. If it makes the DA more accessible/relatable to the majority of voters, why not?

I mean, they tagged her on Twitter. Is that even a thing nowadays?

Great News! Mmusi's statement echoes what I have been saying for some time now. Her mouth is a liability to the party, even if she is right no some issues. Timing is critical right now for the party and for the 2019 elections. Would have been better if she voluntarily got off Twitter and stopped shooting her mouth off. But if it has to be this way.
There will be some fallout, but the party is better off for it already.

Big up to them - doing what the ANC should have done to their wayward 'leader'... no place for racist bigots in SA...

You are 100 percent right, even if we think the tweets were not damaging ourselves, the masses think otherwise.

No, but it's all relative and we're rapidly heading to the bottom of the pile.

So for the sake of votes, to hell with integrity. Yes, exactly the approach the country needs. I'm sure it will work out well in the long run.

Oh, and those people who quit the party over this... that's also great.
They are also a liability.

You do make a lot of sense, but as a white person, I'll do the DA a favour and withdraw myself from that party.... just imagine how happy that will make black people.

Anyway, this country is a joke and I don't really care about its future, but that's just a personal thing.

Integrity is also knowing when to speak and when to keep your mouth shut.
Only a fool lets his mouth run unchecked.... reminds me of Donald Drumpf.

Sounds like someone had it in for her and was looking to get her come what may. So the white madam is no more. Good riddance they'll be saying?

Diversity is only one sided

The other day we had a diversity day session. My ancestors are French. Some of my colleagues said that French isn't part of the South African culture. I mentioned to them that's where wine and Franschoek came from. They said ooh wine is part of South African culture but no one French. Ironically part of my family has been in Cape Town since 1672, long before their family moved down in the 1900s. A lot of buildings belong to us still. We feel we are a part of the culture that makes this country great and have spent a large part of our finances assisting communities.

Personally we are getting to sell it all and move abroad. Taking all our possessions from the museums that it's on loan to.

I will never support the DA again.
