Who will become the Federal Council Chair of the Democratic Alliance (DA)? Is there battle for control of the party and its ideology or is it a carefully planned orchestration meant to fool the Public?

Is ex-DA Leader’s Helen Zille’s hat in the ring a halo or disguise? Many of my previous posts would argue that the devil cannot don a ring of light unless it’s for a dress-up party.

Politics is a fickle beast of secrecy and back-stabs. It may take a long time for the truth to surface… or maybe it’ll drown as it so often does. Momentary lapses of the Public into sanity always returns to long-term apathy and inaction punctuated by useless social media anger, bigotry and self-righteousness.

No one would have died in any war if the weapons had been words instead of bombs, but they would have been assured to dislike each other rather than those who started the war.

The Politicians know that the Public can be counted on to let important matters die.

DA FEDERAL COUNCIL CHAIR CONTENDERS

DA Federal Council Chairperson James Selfe has announced his ‘resignation’.

The battle to fill his seat is between Helen Zille, Athol Trollip, Mike Waters and Thomas Walters. Trollip was the Media’s front runner until yesterday when Zille announced her intentions, causing an online firestorm (which shed light of different kind).

Yeah I snorted a bit at that. So are Malema and Zuma.
I don't get this complete disdain for Helen zille. She was one of the very few white people involved in anti-apartheid movement right from beginning and aside from couple of silly tweets of late, her conduct has been outstanding. Her policies might not have worked but there is absolutely nothing to doubt her sincerity. In that sense, she stands tall way above malema & zuma.

But then I don't judge her based on many of the DA/FF+ supporters here that basically pine for return of good ol' days.

It is easy to tweet/protest/belittle just about anybody on anonymous forums these days but it must have taken monumental balls to stand up to apartheid regime when there must have been less than 1000 whites (if that) who opposed apartheid. And even if one could probably praise zuma for standing up to apartheid, he became so corrupt that it basically negated everything he did earlier and then some. Malema is the worst - gucci corrupter & corruptee of note. There is no comparison.

I do believe you need to go back and re-consult your history -- or -- rather the REAL history
As far as I understand Zille NEVER saw the inside of an apartheid jail cell ?
Was she ever taken into custody and given the SPECIAL BRANCH version of -- "Tea with Helen"
NOT that I know of ....

Unlike MANY other WHITE South Africans !

I dont know.

But she said she regretted appointing people based on race.
This one?
Former DA leader Helen Zille said on Monday that a report implying that she had stated that she regretted transforming the party was incorrect.
"It was absolutely essential [to transform the party]. Where I was mistaken was to think that would enable the DA to rise above the politics of race and focus on... policies that could help South Africa rise above the awful poverty and unemployment it faces. Instead, it got us further entrenched in the ANC's narrative of getting total racial representivity before we could be accepted as a legitimate party. That was the tiger that I mounted."
She further wrote: "I hadn't anticipated one crucial unintended consequence: the more I worked to diversify the DA, and the more successful the party became, the more our opponents accused us of being a 'white party' (with the backing of the usual media chorus)."

Wish I could ask the Madam a couple of questions, what was wrong with DA that it needed transformation? And is the transformation process complete according to her or is there some more transformation that Maimane should continue implementing?

She's beyond reproach according to her ardent supporters on N&CA. She had no part in issues affecting the DA currently.

All I know is that certain ppl in SA and on mybb are desperate to silence Helen. For that reason alone, she must keep speaking her mind and holding leadership positions.

She's a relic, she's also done a fair bit of harm to the DA in the last few years. I don't like her but I respect what's she's accomplished.

The DA isn't going to grow with the madam around. I also believe MM should hand over the reigns to someone else, he's not helping them either.

Nathan Kirsh and the DA

He backs up everything he says with actual evidence. His beef with the DA started with a small complaint about how the Knysna Tourism Board was being run and instead of dealing with it the locals involved started a smear campaign against him in Knysna but they picked on the wrong person. The more they tried to shut him up the more determined he got. And as he has tried to get people higher up the food chain interested in investigating the evidence he has the bigger the whole thing has gotten and the angrier he has become. And the angrier he has gotten, the more the idiots have tried to shut him up. He is prone to hyperbole when he accuses people of being in on the corruption when they won't investigate his evidence - which I suppose from a certain perspective is true enough - if you won't actively pursue an investigation when presented with hard evidence, you are part of the problem for sure - but that doesn't make the proof he has of the web of corrupt connections in the DA less valid. At least some of what he says is independently verifiable using public resources. and quite honestly when you follow the people from post to post and see how consistently the same group of people are involved in the same sort of shenanigans all over the WC = George and Oudtshoorn in particular = there is a very worrying pattern that emerges.

Your recruiters clearly didn't get the message Helen because every single one that ever knocked on my door used the 'as a White person you must' argument. Wrong argument, wrong person, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

AAhhh
So now we have a smidgen of sense ...........
She could of course have had a look at and mentioned the Americas ( North and South )
Canadians strangely enough are happy to recognize themselves as colonists
One wonders WHY the North Americans are so loath to acknowledge the TRUTH
THEY are -- as much as the Canadians -- ALSO COLONISTS
And the so called "indigenous tribes" were not also colonizers?
