Hi

Just purchased a router for fibre (Tenda1200AC) and wondered if anyone could give me a quick set up guide... I have my username and password.

A generic instruction would be great.

Wasn't in the box unfortunately.

Are you using this router?

If you haven't come right yet, download the Tenda WiFi app from your phone's app store. Plug in the router power and connect an ethernet cable from your fibre provider's ONU to your router's WAN port. Connect to the default WiFi network that the router broadcasts (Depending on the firmware, it may or may not require a password - if it does, the password is printed on a sticker under the router). Once connected, fire up the Tenda WiFi App, choose connection type (PPPoE), enter the credentials and save. Next configure your wifi settings and passwords. Save again. You'll probably lose connection as the various modules restart. Connect to your new Wifi Network and you're sorted!

Thanks. I am sorted in a rather weird fashion. I got the app l, connected my phone to the router. It (correctly) said the Wan cable wasn't connected. So I plugged it in and connected it to the cpe.

It said dhcp connection detected. Press continue. I did and was on. Just like that. It didn't ask for a username or password. How does that work?

Are you on Vumatel Trenched? If so, Vumatel's network runs DHCP and allocates your public address automatically. You usually only get 1 IP per CPE, so best this is assigned to your router and then your LAN connects to the internet through your router.

Thanks for explaining mate. I am On vumatel trenched. What a simple solution. Don't know why they think they need to come and visit.

If I just leave the router as default and not allow ate an ip will this work?

PS I'm in a small townhouse with this ac1200 tenda and the signal upstairs sucks. Any recommendation?

Cool, may I ask which. This is a tideover
I am using the Asus DSL AC52U.

I bought it because it can work with both DSL (which is the only connection available in my neighbourhood right now) and Fibre (for when it hopefully does become available to me).
