I have 6 Windows XP profesional computers and a Windows 2003 Domain controller running DNS and DHCP. I was wondering what the easiest way would be to connect all 6 computers to the internet. The router (Telkom Router) is currently connected to the switch, and all computers have static IP addresses. Please explain the best way around this.

Thanks

Set up the router to connect with your username and password as normal, then configure its IP address to fall in your subnet.

After that, simply set up all the machine to use SAIX's DNS servers for DNS, and use the router as their default gateway.

Sorry for sounding stupid, I'm new to all this networking stuff, can I put my Servers IP address into the preferred DNS server (takes really long to log in without doing this) and the SAIX DNS in the Alternate DNS server

My setup is as follows, maybe you can use this and adapt it to your setup. I have 4 machines, all XP, 1 switch, 1 modem(ethernet) and 1 telkom router. All IP's must be on the 192.168.10.* except 192.168.10.200(as this is the routers ip), the gateway must be set to your router ip as I said above this is 192.168.10.200. Your DNS settings for telkom are Primary DNS: 196.25.1.1 and Secondary DNS: 196.25.1.9. If you on the whole setup thing you can use this proxy as well, I find it quite cool, dsl-cache.saix.net port 8080. Hope this helps

For Windows 2003 server you probably want to configure the XP clients to use the DNS address of the server or you will run into name resolution problems on the LAN.

The server's DNS gets configured to use your ISP's DNS. Running the network setup wizard will set it up for you.

I would suggest using Windows 2003 DHCP instead of the router DHCP and set the clients IP to automatic.
