I don't know hey. Its also recommended that you drink lemon juice and this is why I drink a few drops of this mixed with water after any meal at work.

Another home remedy is apple cider vinegar and honey mixed with hot water.

I think that is a myth, it's ph is like 2.3? So it should, in fact, make it worse.
^Assuming ph plays as big a role as I currently think it does.

Believe it or not, citric acid is good for gout. The salts which result from metabolising it are alkaline.

I suspect I might have it too, but not sure.

I had a snowboard accident a while back and twisted my ankle BADLY.

Since then I've had 3 or 4 episodes where my ankle would , out of nowhere, start aching a little 1 or 2 days before and then the next morning I can't even stand on my leg, the ankle / joint is too sore to lift or put down or anything. Literally have to op on 1 leg, swearing all the way around the house. It usually lasts about 3-4 days where I can't walk properly, then subsides to nothing after about a week - no meds involved.

Been to the doc, he just googled the problem right in front of me and said he thinks its gout, he's also no longer a doctor - so Im not going by that.

There's no discolouring or swelling at all from its start to end, so not sure what it is.

Gout you should feel in the big toe first rather than the ankle.

So I doubt it’s gout.
Maybe it's different on feet but 1st time ever I got gout I had it in my soft tissue (ie. Around internal organs).

It by and large starts with the feet normally.

"Gout can present in multiple ways, although the most usual is a recurrent attack of acute inflammatory arthritis (a red, tender, hot, swollen joint).[3] The metatarsal-phalangeal joint at the base of the big toe is affected most often, accounting for half of cases "

Followed by other joints, but yes can ultimately affect organs as well but as far as I know nothing about being "around organs" rather that it crystalizes and causes stones in kidneys etc.

You sure you thinking of gout?

^Yeah, I dont think he's got the diagnosis correct. Gout only affects joints.

In my case it ALWAYS starts with my left big toe. If I don't get any meds for some reason before going to bed, by around midnight not even the sheet is allowed close to my big toe. Anything touching it hurts like fscking hell! You foot feels like you're stepping in hot coals (especially the front part of the foot).

If by midnight I still haven't used anything my foot swells up like a rugby ball and if I don't have any of these bad boys in the house, sick leave or working from home is a must for the following day

Mine started in right toe. Last time it hit my toes was maybe 3 years ago. now its in my foot or ankle.
after a local pharmacy gout pack and a cataflam can feel it subside and move up my legs.

Colchicine helps but be warned.

Now most of you will know that when an attack hits movements have to be kept to minimum even the vibration of hopping is agonising. I resorted to walking sideways and dragging the affected leg behind. painful and slow but its a constant pain instead of jarring pain from hopping or moving fast.

So my beloved father offered some help saying get some colchicine and you will be sorted.
Wobble to pharmacy at work. take a tablet. My father didn't warn me of the ensuing internal battle of emotions and violent gastric activity.
I thought I felt an urge so thinking how slow i move let me start walking but with every step the violence within grew. at one point it was audible. thinking to myself what did my father do to me.
Make it to toilet cheeks dont even hit the seat when it breaks loose followed by a torrential downpour of what felt like acid. sudden violent and quick. before i could realise what happened it was over.

stayed there for a while to recover.

attack started to subside with every evacuation. and there were many.

Now I always move with a gout pack and cataflam, just in case
Alka-Fizz every morning and managed to find my major triggers quite easily.
Cheaper/fatty Red Meat, beer and its on. Though a good rump or fillet no effect.

I'm not sure if you intended this to be humorous with a touch of serious in the middle but you had me in stitches with this story.

Also it's a sad state of affairs when "most of you know" means the majority of us are old ballies with gout.

Pork Belly + Red Wine was my trigger to what I'm pretty sure was one attack of gout that I self medicated and unfortunately never had confirmed officially. That was a few months ago but due to my Crohn's I watch my diet anyway so hopefully it stays well enough away.

It was funny looking back. My father wryly asks me the next day how it went. grinning like the fcuking cheshire cat.
I knew then he intended to do it

:D

Strangely it never got me to the point where I had to run (hop? :D ) to the throne, even though the pharmacists always warns to drink one every two hours until I get the squirts or start projectile vomiting. After popping the second one I can usually feel the crystals being broken down. And this is pretty much what Colchicine is designed to do; to flood your body with alkalines to push your body's pH up past 7

I know enough to know I can get gout - I have family members who get acute attacks.

Had it once years ago - but I get an odd gradual onset - very easy for me to get rid of it by drinking some water before it even affects a joint.

Lowering your stomach acidity isn't always good IMO - especially if you've eaten.

I have been to three doctors all of whom say I have gout. I don't get the usual sore toe pain but rather in my ankles, feet and knees and, every now and again, in my hands/fingers.
My uric acid levels were very high and I was prescribed Puricos to be taken every day... for the rest of my life  However, even while I was on Puricos for a while I still got "gout" and so I stopped taking them.
Some time later I had a blood test done which showed my uric acid levels to be normal but the pains persisted :( Another trip to the doctors office and they said that this can happen and still insists it is gout.

Anyway, I now live with it. I keep Cataflam handy and pop one as soon as I feel a bout coming on.. this usually works. P.S. If I drink lots of water (alas, not in beer format) it does "seem" to help as well.

You will stil get gout on Puricos for about two or three weeks, and worse than before, but it's apparently because the crystals are now smaller and can easily travel to other joints. Just carry on with Puricos, it will go away, and you'll be in heaven.

What works for me is dicloflam.
and if you really suffer from ankle of foot pain, buy some Epsom salt, and soak your foot in warm water with the epsom salt before you go sleep. the next morning the pain will be gone.

That bolded statement is patently untrue!

I had contracted gout in my soft tissue once on a HPLC diet.

Incidently, the Dr also treated it with Colchicine.
Went away never had is since.

That's treating the symptoms.

Puricos is the only thing that works on the issue that and finding out what your triggers.
