thnx for that ,very constructive.

ok ,now what about visitor counter?

... and what is php apps?

Visitor counters are very noob. Sure enough they tell you how many people are visiting your site but eveyone else does not need to know that, use a hidden counter. You could try something like tdstats.com they provide a free stats service. I used them a while. If you can get your hands on Dreamweaver I would give that a bash. You could even go the (in a soft whisper) the template route. When it comes to a corprate web page you want something, fast and well presented a template might help you get there quickly.

After initially rejecting your comments about the professional appeal of my website,

i perused many sites and now i agree that there is a certain corporate look out that i just have to have!

how do i get it? where are these free templates for corporate looking sites?

I have looked at many of the free pages and they are like give u the only substandard for free

I am currently using word as my webpage editor.I dont know html and i am not ready to take this to php.

I just want a clean corporate look that i can then just insert my graphics and text content.

Tower...... first problem you have is WORD....its a shocking editor..... there are plenty of freeware HTML editors out there just download a couple and try them out until you have something that you like

Regarding the templates..... if you find a site that you like......SAVE the PAGE..... then open it up in an editor and change/add/delete what you dont like and VOILA .... you have a template

Not the best way ethically but hell everyone does it......

Most important thing is to get a good editor FIRST!!!!!

Tower110Guy, you get what you pay for. Currently, your "hosted for free" site is down, and when it is up, it's extremely slow. Whilst novel and cool, a dynamic dns driven website on a home connection is just not part of a corporate image. I'd suggest getting some real hosting before worrying about the look and feel of the site.

Try and get your hands on Macromedia Dreamweaver...way better than Frontpage :)

EVIL EVIL!!!

*twitch*

evil things!!! Dreamweaver and Frontpage insert SO much redundant (read: HORRIBLE) code into those pages that they come out double the size that they would be if you coded the HTML.

Learn HTML, it's NOT that difficult - VERY straightforward!
</rant>

okay. right. hosting: try www.sultanhost.com - the start package is $7 a month... yes! Seven Dollars! That's like what? R45?! For 500MB webspace, 10GB traffic, database space, unlimited email addresses, unlimited subdomains, no setup fees... the list goes on! The hosting solution comes standard with the ability to use postNuke (online content management tool) and phpBB (forum tool) - they just have to be enabled. With postNuke you don't need to create a site using an editor, just use the content management tool to create your site. You get TONS of styles to download for postNuke all over the Net.

as for the URL - sultanhosts charge $10 a year to register a dot com address

Like Rodent says, home hosting + dyndns <> professional.

Agreed most WYSIWYG create unholy amounts of scrap code - however at least DW has a cleanup code option...

what i'm saying is that if you used phpNuke, you wouldn't need to set up a site with a wysiwyg editor, 'cos phpNuke would take care of that FOR you... check out www.phpNuke.com for more info.

as for free wysiwyg editors - no idea. sorry.

Edit your httpd.conf to show your index.htm file as the default index file...

Currently I get the directory and its innerds... I don't want to lock topics, but I think this one is done now, yes?

Cheers
