Hey BB

So I been with iBurst wireless for years as my dad refused to get ADSL. Cant do anything on that rediculous slow internet. I cry when I see my results on speedtests with that iBurst. Got my own place now so now looking at internet the last few weeks. Reading threads on here and doing price comparisons. My situation is as follow:

I stay on my own in Bellville, Cape Town. There is no Telkom line and I am still waiting for the Telkom line to be installed (2 weeks now).

My main priority is gaming. Not hardcore but I like to play some evenings during week and longer over weekends. COD, BF4, Far Cry, Borderlands, AOE, DOTA.
I do most of my e-mails, forums and browsing at work so little browsing at home then.
Streaming some youtube and soundcloud for music at home.
Light downloading of a few anime episodes a month.
Not doing any torrents or P2P or that whole Hulu/Netflix thing.

I was looking at capped accounts with speed of 2Mbps. If I made mistakes in the prices then please let me know. Here are my options with the R166 Telkom line included (price might be changing soon from what I have read) :

Axxess - 30GB + 30GB = R438 (has rollover data)
Webafrica - 40GB + 160GB (midnight) = R465
Cybersmart - 70GB + 1000GB (midnight) = R549 (supersize option included)
Crystalweb - 90GB + 360GB (midnight) = R610
Telkom - 20GB + unlimmited (midnight) = R561 (This is the 4Mbps option as 2Mbps is only 10GB)
Mweb - 20GB + 20GB (midnight) = R451
Afrihost - 50GB + 50GB = R494

The more I save the better but obviously dont wanna go for crap ISP or package. Is the 2Mbps sufficient and which option is the best from the ones I listed above?

Thanks

Cost breakdown:

Phone line rental R189
ADSL rental R165
Data <remainder>

You're paying R354 before you even get any data. Keep that in mind.

For your usage I'd probably take a crystal web capped 90GB at R295.

Just download from midnight to 6am and you'll be golden. Then migrate your line to them and save a bit each month on the rental.

Hi Icetto,

Pity you are in CT. Neotel haven't rolled out LTE there yet, but do have Wimax service, both which fall under the Neobroadband Wireless service. The 2 Mbps service (with 1/3 of that upload speed) and 200 Gigs cap @ R699 may be an option. Plus you get a static IP! If you have coverage (and enough signal!) , they normally install in a couple of days, up here in JHB. CT may be a bit slower! :). Speeds are rock solid and reliable.
