Okay so I'm finally leaving console gamming behind and decided to get back in to pc gamming but I need something portable so I decided on a laptop/space heater .Problem is I have been out of the pc building scene for so long that I'm not sure what's future proof anymore .so I have seen these recently and they are within budget (R30000) but not sure which would be better.

Gigabyte G5

Gigabyte G7

Asus tuf a15

Thanks for help guys.

I never thought I would do this: Gaming not Gamming. From a good place, not a grammer nazi, as my spelling amd grammar is not up to par.

I HATE it when they put windows 10 Home on these notebooks. Yuck.

Have you looked at the Wootbooks, not sure if they got stock by now? (Wootware)

Otherwise, I only buy Dell with Onsite Warranty. If something goes wrong, their support is on the ball and they come to your house to fix it.

Yeah, it is absolutely the worst time in history to buy a laptop. SA have zero stock of anything. Nevermind how freaking overpriced they are. But that goes for most things now in SA.

The chances are good those Gigabytes are also not available. But yeah, I would go with Gigabyte from Wootware before I touch Asus from Evetech. Evetech aftersales are horrendously pathetic, specially if it is not onsite warranty. For Evetech laptops you have to deal directly with the supplier.

Before you buy a 30-series go to notebookcheck and find the TGP for the specific one you are considering.

Where previously the cards were tagged max-q or max-p there is no such requirement now.

This entails you could get a 3060 which outperforms a 3070 because the 3060 is getting 115w of power where the 3070 is only getting 90w.

Yep I did look at notebookcheck and found the there listed as 90 although I did see a few videos starting that its 80-85w but the gigabyte is listed as 105w which sounds alot better. But is a 15w difference justified by the price?

Also remember gaming laptops you have to keep plugged in to get its full potential generally. Battery life is also crap. Unplugged is heavily throttled, under powered and will give you probably an hour, hour half max. I would also want to go for a 1440p display. But again. Option and price in SA is limited.

I did look at Amazon but I'm a bit skeptical about the shipping due to covid, and the warranty as it's from outside the country.

Using Amazon Global Shipping, Amazon's service is pretty good from what I have read on this forum. As for the warranty, I guess that is a bit of a risk and not sure how Amazon handles that .

Generally, AMD 5000 > Intel > AMD 4000.
For the GPU, the TDP is the most important number to look at. The higher the better.

That Asus A15 actually looks like good value, but Evetech....

So looking at the two laptops the asus has a better cpu but the gigabyte has a better gpu.Honestly not sure which would be a better buy.
