Hi
Need some advise.
I have the following modules left on level one:

ICT1511 - Introduction to Programming
ICT1512 - Introduction to Interactive Programming
ICT1521 - Introduction to Databases
ICT1532 - Network Technical Skills

So I'd like to know if I wont have any problems doing the ICT1511 and 1512 same time? Are they similar in any way? Because I know doing similar modules can be a bit confusing.
Also, I've never done any sort of accounting in high school. So I wanted to know if the module " FAC1501 - Introductory Financial Accounting" is difficult or fairly easy?

Have done diploma way too long ago to know. Go for a degree if you can. Diplomas don't mean much these days IMHO.
As for the accounting, introductionary will most likely be low level just to understand it for financial processes etc. If you work at it its easy. I always tell the Accountants and Financial managers and like speak English , plusses and minusses, debit this credit that FFS!

Those course codes often differ depending on the technikon, just ask the Secretary to give you the course plan, it should include what you have to have done in order to attend that subject.

Accounting depends on how you think, it was easy enough for me to grasp but others have a lot of problems wrapping their head around it. You can always just try it out and, if it isn't to your liking, swap it out.

It would depend on your current level of expertise.
I found ICT1532 Exteremely easy and could do it without any study effort at all.
Grabbing ICT1511,1512 and 1521 Is a big chunk and if you are doing this part time and working full time you'll have to probably sacrifice every single weekend.

I completed both last year. ICT1511 is your basic programming concepts i.e. what is a variable, what are loops, arrays, etc. all in pseudo code. ICT1512 is HTML along with Javascript for interactive website design. You could happily do both at the same time, especially if you already have some basic coding experience.

Never had an issue w.r.t. employers asking for a Degree over Diploma or Btech.

When I registerd for this course, the requirements for a degree where to pass the 3rd level with an average of 60%.

I see, will see if I can find a text book for it and check what's happening.

Will try doing that.. and no, I cannot swap the accounting module, it is part of the course.

My thought exactly! And yes, I'm working full time. Maybe I could try putting on hold either 1511 or 1512 and include that accounting module as the fourth?

I see, thanks! And What other modules were you doing together with the 1511 and 1512? Are you on level 2 now? How is the accounting module?

I'm halfway through the second level and have one third level module done already. Personally I find accounting quite hard. I'm giving it another try this semester.

I'm on second level yes, will only be doing the financial accounting module next semester. I have been mixing up the modules so that I have a good spread every semester, typically one programming and two other. This helps keep me from getting too bored as first level is pretty easy (I have been doing .Net dev for a few years now so these basic programming concepts take barely any attention :/).
