Hello all. Need some kind words - even if you need to fib :)

Was swept up by all the peeps over at MacRumours - about all those buying up 2012 i7 quad-cores...

So did the same today. M388 i7 1TB hdd. R8k through IC. Same price as the M387....

Plan to use it as a media base, hooked up to the big screen. Kids will probably use it a bit, and will pop family photos/music and XBMC on it.

Silly paying that for a 2012 model - or not too bad, considering it's the last of the upgradeables?

What's the M388?

Heck - what's the M387 for that matter?

MacMini - lets put it this way - after so many years of faithful service I just retired the Mac Mini I got back in 2006 - and only because I couldn't run Plex on it. If I had the cash I'd get another one today.

And you bought it cause you plan on upgrading it?

Yip. Have a cMBP - with 16Gb Ram and 500GB SSD - hoping that when I upgrade the laptop, will be able to slot those upgrades into the Mini, and sell the MBP as stock... Well, that's the plan.

For what you have planned for it I'm not really sure why you would want to

sounds like a good deal. whats the problem?

Well it was kind of an impulse buy, made quickly this morning without checking the specs properly. Not even sure if this one was the better models of the 2012 range!

Ja. Has been mentioned to rather sell the cMBP kitted out - but would be nice to max the Mini, for longevity purposes.

Thanks for that useful contribution. Appreciated.

Im a horrible person to speak to when you are looking for someone to appreciate that you paid so much for so little. Sorry.

I don't think it is a bad buy. If you have the use for it - personally I wouldn't buy a Mac Mini because I need something portable. Like you said you already have a portable and if you need a 2nd machine and it doesn't HAVE to be portable then what's wrong with a Mac Mini :)

You're about as helpful as a one-legged man in a bum-kicking competition.

You've twice made the point that it was too much money. Congratulations. It must be very self-rewarding to make a broad statement without having to actually contribute anything in the line of reasons. My request that you actually add something was obviously a bridge too far. The horror.
