Telkom, which is my ADSL provider has been plagued in my area (Bronkhorstspruit) with repeated cable thefts (even fibre optic cable, believe it or not) resulting in long periods of up to 3 weeks without internet access. This makes life in the home extremely frustrating because now we have to resort to using our cell phones as modems and we have to do this in the early hours of the morning, such as from 1h00 to 5h00 in order to get access to the cheaper rates and get our work done as the network is congested during the day and early evening. Telkom itself has offered a rebate for the unavailability of the land- and internet lines at a measly R20 a month. I'm afraid that I am not willing to suffer this inconvenience much longer.
So now I'm asking you guys on the site what is a good alternative which will give me internet in the home, is still affordable ( I pay about R350 per month for the ADSL and the associated landline plus R199 for the AFrihost ISP connection with which I have uncapped service), which is not too slow.
Any suggestions about what service to select?
