I was downloading ubuntu 9.10 from "http://s.releases.ubuntu.com/" but it stopped at 480MB.
I was downloading from chrome and pausing and resuming does not help.

I tried Wget, and entered this command after navigating to Wget directory
"$ wget -c http://s.releases.ubuntu.com/karmic/ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso"

but the download was only restarting and not resuming.

How can I resume the download?

I think going with google chrome was a mistake, if you want to close Chrome when pausing a download it will cancel the download and delete it.
I'm trying all over with download manager in Firefox now.

You could have used Orbit Downloader, it integrate with all of the top browsers.

That's something that I don't like very much about Chrome. In other browsers the downloads are separate from your browser window, so you can't accidentally close them.
A download accelerator, like Orbit downloader, is a good idea because it doesn't lose track of your downloads, you can stop and resume right where you left off.
I think you're going to have a hard time getting that download to resume, if at all possible, if you can't get it going again in Chrome. It's probably thrown your data away. :(

Looking at the OP's command line, it would appear he is using Linux. Orbit is win only...

I saw that, thought he was using wget in Windows(even though it is quite strange it is possible). Maybe a rename of the Software forum to Windows Software Forum lol.
