My wife and I want to leave South Africa! I have a UK and SA passport (as I am British) and my wife is fully SA, and due to new laws can only get residence if I sponsor her (or an employer!), and she can get a UK passport when she lives in the UK for a couple of years.

I hope you can help, or refer me to someone who can - I am originally from the UK (Yorkshire) but fell in love with my wife, and SA, and emigrated here. Since then, life has been quite a struggle. I am 26, she is 27. We are simple, we just want to have a life. Somewhere to live and a child or two. But my wife cannot get work (there are just no jobs in Durban and she is white).

Although I am doing extremely well at work, there is no chance of promotion and again, few jobs. That, coupled with the sad fact that property is so mad that you need a CEO's salary to buy justa flat, and thus hugely increased rent, means that we are trapped in our miniscule 1br flat and can't even afford to move into a 2br, let alone get a house or flat! So our chances of having a family are also slim, when we can barely fit into a pokey flat, how do we raise a child! And when they go to school, look at the school fees, health care - all in addition to a rip-off economy riddled with cartels, monopolies and corruption. Being whites doesn't help us much either.

I am in timeshare, but I studied Marketing Management in Holland. I am very good with computers, speak English - Dutch/Flemish (I lived in Holland for 13 years) - Afrikaans - German and am a hard, dedicated worker with initiative. My wife has an N3 certificate and has experience with admin, running an office, reception, switchboard, but both of us are capable of much more.
If you can help us, or know of someone who can, please do! We'd gladly appreciate it. All we need to do is sell our furniture, our car, get tickets and go."

I just moved back to south africa from the UK

SA is so so so much better!!!

Nothing would keep me in the UK.

I'm earning less but enjoying life is so much more than more important than having money.

So just leave your options for coming back open cause the UK might not be the solutions to your problems.

IamCanadian is making the request on behalf of someone else? Posted on a bulletin board somewhere?

Anyway, definite 419. And read it! It's all nonsense!

I'm interested to know why you feel SA is better to live in than the UK?
WRT money not being everything i agree with you 100%.
Do you not think that the quality of life is better in the UK than SA?

@IamCanadian: 419 scam for sure.

 I don't get it...

Obviously the person has access to the internet, and is allegedly good with computers, and has UK citizenship & a UK passport, and is currently employed & earning money. So save up for the plane tickets etc, and look for a job in the UK over the internet & then buy the plane tickets...

My sister came back from the U.K at the start of the year after two years. When she got back she was absolutely shocked at the state of this country. It was bad when she left 2 years ago but now it is far worse. Needless to say she is leaving for good at the end of the year and she can't wait.

the longer it takes you to get back the bigger the shock it is

the longer you stay away the more like home it becomes

the longer you stay the harder it is to leave (and the less you notice)

everywhere is home if you stay long enough

but still... here I am

(this is home, the place I feel most comfortable in the world, and that's how simple it is)

Are you an adrenaline junkie by any chance ? . Or did you visit countries like Iraq, Burma, North Korea and Chechnya because those are some of the only countries that could make me homesick. ;) :D
