I have the same modem, but I dont understand why your trying to make a "dial-up connection"? With mine you simply plug the cable into your pc and the 300-T's built-in dhcp will automatically assign IP's instructing your pc to use the 300-T as its internet gateway. (Make sure you've got "Obtain IP automatically" turned on)

As far as i know only usb modems require you to make a dial-up connection. Unless they make a usb version of the 300-T?

Follow instructions from Tibby Dude, You have to tell it your'e using network, not dialup. Is your modem set up ie with ISP details, user name password etc?

There is no need for creating a "dialup" connection on your PC if you are going to use the modem to initiate the PPPoE connection i.e it works as a router and you have entered the userid and password on the modem administration screen.

Also don't forget the VPI/VCI settings and encapsulation type which you must set on the modem.

All you need to do is to plug your PC in and make sure your gateway and IP range is set to point to the modem via DHCP and you should be on the internet.

One tricky thing about the 300T - out of the box I think they come with DHCP disabled, so you have to manually set the PC IP address to 192.168.1.2 to connect to it. Then you can tell it to do DHCP etc.

Hi

Just another thing about the DSL-300T, in SA it will work 50% of the time as a Router (Device that does the PPPoE dial up for you), but it's original design was that it should only be setup as a Broadband Modem (a device, like a router DI-604 or PC should do the PPPoE dial up or it). This is a limitation of the hardware, even though it is running on the DSL-504T Firmware kernel.

So the setup is quite simple:
1) Setup the DSL-300T in Bridged Mode.
2) Create a normal Broadband dialup from Windows XP.

Also do not enable DHCP because you'll receive a global IP (like 165.146.4.5) and some sites in SA won't be accessible.

Regards
