Help with Dlink504T setup!

Hi guys

A friend of mine has got his port allocated and we just bought the dlink504t router to c if his line is active. The only lights that go on are the power one and the status light flashes. The ADSL light is off. Does this mean his line has not been activated? we are unsure!! we phoned the telkom techies n the dude said he would validate it n that seemed to go without any problems. So does validation mean that the line is active? any help wud be much appreciated.

The adsl light should come on if the line is connected.

ADSL light should come on to signify that there is ADSL sync. (It flickers a bit during transfer...)
Status light should flash slowly.

Have you set up the router for VCI/VCP etc?
Should be set up as follows:
VPI/VCI: 8/35
Encapsulation type: LLC

Yup, if the ADSL light is dead then no synch was achieved.
