For any dealer use an independent person to recheck the car before you accept any kind of offer or you might end up with

I followed that thread before posting this one shame what happened to that guy i have gone to many dealerships but I have only attempted to buy from one and I got burnt it was a Picanto ,it looked good got all the paper work in terms of service history but what made me pissed of the most was that the dealership decided to add on like 30K to the sell price excluding the OTR Fees with out explaining it to me so I hammered them with questions about this and they would not answer me except for bringing the price down while increasing the interest rate on financing so I told them no thanks left it

What about a Fiesta?

This guy travelled right across Europe and Russia in one (including Siberia in winter).

Yes, stay away from the first generation, they are rubbish.

Don't be too afraid of cars around the 100k mileage, properly maintained cars don't fall apart when they reach 100k kms, especially the Asian models.
I font mind going slightly over a 100k kms so log it does not go over lets say 120k but I must insist on a full service history detailing everything done on them

I would love one but sadly I can't find them in my price range or in low enough kms when I do find them

How about this? Well below your budget and low kms and full service history.

because of my previous car that was a fiesta from hell [but i did buy it at 195k kms] my family said I should be cautious about fords

I'd say it's a mistake to discount an entire make on the back of one dud car.

If reliability is your thing, you can NEVER go wrong with a Toyota or a Honda. They're designed to run forever, and are two of the most popular brands for that reason alone. As far as maintenance goes, parts for the former are cheap as chips and available everywhere.

Life is a gamble. So is buying a second-hand car. Just do your best due dilligence (get a good mechanic to have a look) and then take the plunge if the technical and financial aspects align

I agree trouble is I can't find toyota in my price range and when I do find a honda the Jazz gets snapped up quickly even if it is old and I can never buy a honda brio as it is ugly as sin and the car has no boot to speak about even the picanto has a much larger boot then that car

I don't mind the gamble but I just don't know what the buy I really liked the sandero but I just can't afford the insurance on it Fiestas are too rare and so far the only place I could find that has one is Webuycars I am not very keen to buy a car from them

they are nice but are honda parts not very expensive? after all I don't want to buy a car only to find that I need to spend like 5k or more on a service simple because parts are pricey
They are expensive, very expensive, but then they don't break, if they do ultimately break you would have had ample time to save for parts.

You do get the parts at aftermarket places even though it's not the same as a Toyota or a Volkswagen.

ok then but now it would seem I can't find any in Cape town that isn't driven into the ground and I just can't deal with a high km car even a honda

The concept of parts being expensive is a weird one that only applies if you need them all to time.

People love to say a VW CitiGolf is cheap to run because the parts are cheap, but they break down all the ****ing time so it’s not really cheap at all then is it?

A Honda Jazz never dies and therefore doesn’t need parts and even when it does they are unreasonable.

You won’t be using a dealership, which is where it can be expensive as is the case for all of them.
