Hi all,
I use Bitcomet for all my torrent downloads, but am not getting the speeds I should be getting, averaging about 10 - 20 KB for well seeded torrents. I even tried MrBeep's socks proxy, and that did not seem to have much effect, although I do need to play around with it a bit more.

This is on a 384 line where my linespeed is ±430kbps on the local test, so my line is capable of good speeds through torrents. Maybe I am doff, but with ISDN I always ran at 7.4 - 7.8 KBps, so the settings in Bitcomet appear to be correct. With the WRT54G router, do i neet to open ports for torrent clients?

What is the ideal share ratio with torrents? I have set my upload speed at 5KB, but this is because my downloads are so slow. Even setting uploads at "Unlimited" doesn't help my download speeds.

Any advice?

It definately is weird, because some ppl have problems with torrent speeds, while others say that they are downloading at max speed.

What is the ideal share ratio though. I'm on DSL384, and have set uploads at 10KBps.
What does everyone else set their uploads at?

What was the right direction ?
The maximum speed I seem to get is around 20k.
My upload speed is usually faster than my download speed.

CodeMaster - it's best to leave it at automatic speeds if your getting a good ratio.
If you can see your torrent isn't going any faster than a certain speed after some time, then lower the upload rate.

The problem is with me, my torrents exhibit odd behaviour.
I've got one downloading at 10k and uploading at 30k - yet there's no seeds and I'm connected to 5 peers.

It's really odd how it works out, or rather, doesn't work out.

MaNson, if you have any tips, PM me as well, this is my current setting :-

IPCop with ports 1000 - 65535 open for external access. Figured this is safe enough as I have no services using those port numbers. Checking my firewall logs, I've not noticed any unusual activity.
Using Bittornado.

Well bb_matt, my only problem was that I had not opened the correct ports on my router for both TCP & UDP, so in effect I was only getting connections that were locally initiated, and not remote initiated connections.
I have opened one port for Azureus, and one for Bitcomet, which has done the trick. Although Azureus NAT test fails giving a "NAT Error", all health icons are geen *weird*

MansoN appears offline so I'll just PM you what he sent me :)

No wonder it's only going at 10k/sec if there are no seeds.

Well, the seeds come and go - really rather odd, it's not a hectically popular torrent file.

ya, this seems to be the fashion, maybe its not related to the router?
