Hi, we are in need of help from the South African Bantu language speaking community!

We are designing a Web page and search engine specifically for official South African Bantu languages.

As you know or might have noticed, finding resources on the Internet in the official South African Bantu languages is difficult as there is a scarce amount of content online in these languages. For the sake of our project, we have labeled these languages (isiNdebele, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sesotho, Sesotho sa Lebboa, Setswana, siSwati, Tshivenda and Xitsonga) as Resource Scare Languages.

In order to test and fully develop our Web page, we are in need of assistance from the South African community. We need help with translations, which is difficult to find the resources for online. Two areas which we need translated are text on the Web page and test search queries for the search engine.

Below are links to Google forms which we are using to crowd source translations for our test search queries. Please can you select the language(s) which you are fluent in to help us translate the queries.

isiNdebele query translations:

Xitsonga query translations:

Below is a link to an Excel sheet of the translations needed for the Web page. There are a lot of translations in this document, please fill in as many translations as you can. Once you've finished could you please email the Excel document back to us at salang.exp@gmail.com

Is the term Bantu even pc

in standard current use in South Africa the term black or African is used as a collective or non-specific term for African peoples.
The term Bantu has, however, continued to be accepted as a neutral ‘scientific’ term outside South Africa
used to refer to the group of languages and their speakers collectively

So to answer your question, it's pc for the rest of the world but not if you're a South African. Go figure.
