Help!!!

I received a Netgear DG834 router today. I used to get 21.4kbs before ASDL and now get 4.2kbps (Telkom speed test). Router sales company, Telkom and Service provider all say the error is not on their side, although I only had about an hour of contacting them before end of day. I was given Primary DNS 196.25.1.11 and Secondry 196.43.1.11 Could it be this?
Also, cannot download e-mails, dial-up box keeps coming up so something is not right there. Please help an absolute novice.

No the DNS options wont make a difference. It's quite obviously a problem with the Netgear DG834. There might be a flash upgrade for it.
