Great site!!!!

Has anybody ever had this problem with their router or usb modem:

The dsl modem shows that it's synchronizing, but I can't log on to my isp. It shows verifying username and password, but then I get a error 619.......I've reinstalled drivers and even bought another router with no luck. Telkom says there is no problem with the line, but my laptop gives the same error.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

PLEASE HELP

It does exactly the same thing, but Telkom's consultants say there is nothing wrong with the line. The router diagnostic test shows:
ADSL Synchronization = pass
PPPoPvc 0 PPPOE connection = fail

Seems like you need to install PPPoE drivers for whichever operating system you're using. Try google for the drivers matching your OS. For WinXP it should already be installed though...

What I think you need to do is phone up Telkom and ask them to reset your ADSL port. I know some of the phone support are unable to do this so they will say that your line is fine.

I second gee7022 on this one... Had the same problem with a client phoned Telkom and like always they said there is nothing wrong with the line, told them to do a port reset and it worked like a charm after that....

It's definitely not a driver problem, because it was working fine and all I did was shutdown my PC for a day. I've already formatted and reinstalled Windows so I'll try and get them to do a port reset. Thanks, I'll let you know if it works.

Hey guys,

What's that number to dial for Telkom to do the port reset?

All I did was dial the helpdesk number (0800 375375) and spoke to a consultant. He put me through to somebody who could reset it.
