Here’s how much government has made from fuel taxes

The fuel levy generated R93.37 billion in revenue in the 2023/24 financial year. This levy currently makes up around 5% of the government’s total tax revenue and is the fourth largest revenue item in the government’s budget.

Yet the EV faithful, a bright bunch, actually believe that, if we all bought EVs, Government would just accept the R93billion loss.

But they also believe that EVs are the future...

That's why EV's are taking so long to get discounts here.

We're a country where the fuel tax levy is actually going into the pockets of cadres. So losing out on that from EV's directly impacts their (swiss) bank accounts.

And they used it to buy more diesel with all ESKOM bailouts.

Only a cANCerous group of piggies, can yoink almost a trillion in a decade, and still have buggerall to show for it.

And SANRAL wants us to believe the government couldn't have paid the GFIP off (something like R22 billion with the overpayment and that e-toll system incl) in one year back in 2013 when they got like R45 billion for the fuel levy?

They could have easily built another 10 GFIP by now if they had wanted.

Let’s all switch to EVs and then they won’t get a cent in fuel levy from us!

Does this include the amount raped on SA through the use of generators so they can keep their lights on?? I seriously doubt it.........it should be at least triple that figure. But still there is no money.........

More logical thinking please so your doubt is not false. Unless they somehow buy and import their undeclared fuel from overseas, generator people do pay those taxes.
