Here is why Vumacam's poles are taller than their camera domes

Vumacam poles with grey camera domes have been rolled out across Johannesburg, and one thing which stands out is that the height of the poles far exceeds the height of the domes.

The reason for this additional height is to make it possible to carry extra infrastructure such as solar panels or network equipment in future.

Vumacam has been rolling out its security camera network across Johannesburg for three years, and it now has 3,000 poles of which 2,700 of which have cameras installed.

Still want to understand how Vuma got given the green light to put up these poles.

Companies I am involved with doing exactly this, have continuously asked the CoCT since 2013 to do this.

Johannesburg seems very lapse on permission requirements for certain things compared to CoCT.

Look at Solar for an example, in JHB no permission or requirements needed just do your own thing

I've put in bold the answer.

Vumacam only has coverage in JHB/EKU and Tshwane.

One of the many, many reasons that JHB > CT.

What I don't understand is why this Vumacam has become such a main topic when talking about Vumatel.

Cool. I always thought that the extra height was to store batteries...
