I'm surprised there is no news coverage (that I can see) covering the ongoing situation in Hermanus. There has been rioting since before the weekend and today the situation seems to be getting worse rather than better. Half the schools never opened, the rest closed early, the R43 has been closed off and on. Gateway shopping mall and the new Whale coast mall have been evacuated. Cars and buses confirmed burnt out and I'm reading now a police station has been burnt down in Zwelihle.

Anyone got any news of the latest happenings? Lots on local facebook pages including lots of pics and updates from Police and Municiplaity.

----
Hermanus CPF update 26/03/18 06h45 : there are flare ups in Zwe but these are being contained to within the township. All access to CBD is open. Avoid going into Zwe, hotspots are Sisulu St, Mbeki and Mandala Streets in Zwe

----
Hermanus CPF update 26/03/18 at 11am : the crowd is moving back from Mount Pleasant towards Zwelihle, the situation is being monitored. There is an element vandalizing the swimming pool building and SAPS is on the scene dealing with the situation

----

"Nah bru, don't be alamrist, no ones land is going to be stolen, there's no need for hysteria, the government said so"

:D
It stemmed from the land grab on Thursday. A march was held to the Municiplaity to demand water and electricity to the 'plots' and it's gone nuts from there.
