Hidden force behind the end of load-shedding

Nah. The most annoying has been the naysayers.
  • 15 years ago solar and Li-Ion were expensive AF. But the potential was clear.
  • Soon enough the prices started going down seriously as interest in the tech and manufacturing increased.
  • Trend projections started showing that they would indeed become extremely affordable. And eventually as the years went by there was massive adoption in one country after the other. Often even what was considered cold countries with relatively poor solar resources. And rooftop solar became a very common thing to see in many countries, inverter and battery included. Slowly but surely, here too.
  • Then it became really cheap and accessible. Often surpassing projections. And gov dearest finally relaxed regs around people getting solar. And a year or two later it ****ing solved load shedding for us.

Now the "fun" part was listening to the detractors all of those ****ing years. Endless negative bullshit. Shooting the tech down every chance they got. Often seeming to hope it would all just fail. For... why the ****??? Never made sense. The **** was it to them, anyway? The credentials of the tech was obvious. But whatever. I hope they enjoyed having uninterrupted power for the last half a year or so - In large part thanks to renewable energy tech. A truly well deserved steaming mug of STFU.

Eh?.. Might enjoy it. You're welcome. Try to have a better grip on things next time. If obvious things keep eluding you, then just keep trying. Daar's nie pille nie, but my best wishes. Always XOXO

The true fun part though - Solar panels will become cheaper than plywood over the next 15 years. We'll see shacks being built out of solar panels.
And battery prices are also on it's own steep downwards trajectory.
If you don't see the systemic implications, well... just don't worry about it.

Still don't like it?

Taking credit for doing nothing.
People have taken control of their own needs and heeded ESKOM to use less.

Now Eskom need 35% increase to make up shortfalls.
Its only going to get worse.
More people will be going off grid because the ROI time will only get shorter the higher ESKOM charges.

Not another bloody "expert" who spews nonsense!

hidden force, was it the wet coal? or was it the drunk systems operators being told to voets3k home
and them installing AI that does the work for a fraction of the cost.
