There is an interesting correlation between the nations with the highest average IQ and the broadband services available in those countries.

Very interesting. With this government wanting to keep average IQ's as low a possible along with Telkodemonopolies it seems so hopeless for decent broadband :(

72 for S.A

HK top and only 107.

So what is the article saying? That nations with higher IQ are capable [knowledgeable] enough to build the best broadband network? [kinda obvous?] .

Or is it trying to say that better broadband improves IQ/skill due to higher availability of knowledge/information ?

Sounds like a chicken-egg issue rather.

I assume there's a correlation between Literacy level and Broadband level too ;)

I wonder is that also applicable to individuals? i.e. If I have the best broadband link that money can buy as well as push to line to the limit, I have a high IQ.

No wonder I have to have a 4Mb ADSL line and push my line to over 5Gb a month.

Hmmm I wonder what the average IQ is of DoC employees, specifically the job-fraud plants that Tsunami-Shareholder Lyndall has personally been interviewing and employing...

Poison Ivy and her department are dragging down the average IQ of the nation, please could someone give Sentech the funding to complete its Poison Ivy tele[de]portation device.

Linda Gottfredson, "The General Intelligence Factor", Scientific American Presents "Exploring Intelligence", pg. 24, 1999:
Adults in the bottom 5% of the IQ distribution (below 75) are very difficult to train and are not competitive for any occupation on the basis of ability. Serious problems in training low-IQ military recruits during World War II led Congress to ban enlistment from the lowest 10% (below 80) of the population, and no civilian occupation in modern economies routinely recruits its workers from that below-80 range.

Relevant?

Well back in school my IQ was tested and it rated me pretty damn high. Now if my parents only had dial-up does that make me special? :p

On the lower end of the Country IQ scale there are little or no broadband services available. Sierra Leone (64), Ethiopia (63) and Equatorial Guinea (59) are not listed in the ‘Broadband Internet access in Africa’ page on Wikipedia giving some indication of the state – or lack thereof – of broadband in these regions.

Let me guess, you are from Equatorial Guinea? :)

The most likely conclusion of all this is that IQ tests are racially and culturally biased and should not be taken too seriously.

The problem with correlations is that, depending on one's viewpoint, cause and effect are interchangable.

Do higher IQ's produce wealthier nations or do wealthier nations produce higher IQs?

or

Do higher IQ's result in better broadband or does better broadband result in higher IQs?

or

Do wealthier nations install better broadband or does having better broadband make nations wealthier?

Wealthy nations are wealthy because they reward intelligence.

Compare the US of A's importation of intelligent individuals, to ZA's telling them to leave.
