Slightly more useful interview with someone who actually runs the company, not a 'spokesperson': https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/art...ve-its-reputation-performance-and-confidence/

A refreshing openness by Eskom’s new management was demonstrated in an interview with Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer by EE Publishers.

The interview, which took place on 20 December 2018, followed dramatic developments in the operations of Eskom in 2018, including the decline in the utility’s generation plant performance, shortages of coal at power stations in Mpumalanga, the return of Stage 2 (2,000MW) load shedding — with rolling blackouts across the country for a week before the Christmas holiday season, and the announcement by the COO of a nine-point plan to address the operational issues.

Interesting that the COO admits that the biggest problems are financial and "people issues" and doesn't have much to say about coal supply apart from the high export prices. Which is consistent with the reports in December that the mines were actually complaining that the power stations weren't taking coal deliveries to the extent that they were backlogging. Reading between the lines, I'd say "people issues" is this guy's main problem. Way too overstaffed, and way too under skilled, with way too much corruption.
