In the last 7 years my highlight was when I won the Samsung Galaxy Tab :D

Another was all the complaints and stuff about Telkom when I joined in 2006 and now they are good.

Hi there

MyBroadband was launched 10 years ago, a few months after Telkom launched its ADSL service in South Africa. Since then there were many highlights on MyBroadband, including Sentech’s MyWireless launch and the fight for better service levels, Vodacom’s 3G launch with Vodacom3G on the forums, the ADSL regulations, MWEB’s uncapped ADSL announcements, the start of Threadkiller and the like.

Can you please tell us what you think the highlights were on MyBroadband over the last 10 years? What do you remember the best?

Please post your highlights in this thread.

I remember searching for assistance with Sentech's Mywireless product. Every google search bought me to this forum filled with people who even if they couldn't help at least could sympathise.

A highlight was recently receiving the unexpected good quality shirt and cap. (Many people have BTW commented on the shirt)

When MyADSL stopped being just about ADSL and became MyBroadband. (Thanks to My Wireless?)

Aaah... The good old days of RouteSentry.

It feels like a big blast from the past but it isn't that long ago that we all used it.

My Top 10 Highlights....

1) The early days of 30 Gig ADSL accounts back in 2005, before Telkom closed the loophole. We also used to get free local back then.
2) WebAfrica offers their 30 Gig for R199 Red Africa Promo in 2010 and then adds 100 Gig Download Plus in 2011.

3) Sharing Files on the UUNET FTP Server! (The original thread was deleted years ago for some reason, but there is this one)
4) The Days of Mweb LOCAL uncapped Trial several years before Mweb "Freed the Web"
5) Guys begging for Invites on the local Torrent Sites
6) The Local Only thread - Things to do when your Cap runs out!
7) The Early days of the Local SAIX and IS News Servers!
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/103290-News-server-related-queries
8) The day that the Seacom Cable was announced! (And the day that Local ISPs told us not to expect prices to drop because of Seacom!)
9) Afrihost's R29 per Gig Revolution!
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/194235-R-29-per-GB-ADSL-will-it-start-a-price-war
10) Gmail goes live in early 2005 and offers 1Gb of Mail storage in the day when the highest was 100 Mb.
