So this weekend I went phone hunting didn't want some thing expensive but still wanted some thing that can kick butt if it needed to.
I usually try all the big name brands, decided meh what is the point, I have a decent tablet for all the other things why not get a basic phone that makes and receive calls, can do a whatsmabob and vleisbook.
I was pretty surprised at just how much choice there actually is below 1K, looked at the vodacom steppa. Set out to get a phone with 1gig ram, quad CPU and at least 8gb internal memory any thing below that isn't worth the time and effort.
I got more then I bargained for with the hisense U601s, decently build phone, screen is pretty decent it does compared to the high end models, so pretty standard for a entry level phone I wasn't expecting a HD screen any ways.It comes with android 6.0, which is really a bonus.
The down sides are the smaller battery and it doesn't have the notification led that I have come custom to on samsung galaxy phones, so you have to check the phone every now and then to make sure you didn't miss any thing, the audio isn't great either, did a couple of video calls as well, the camera is decent but it doesn't adjust for poor or bright lights. Not sure you really need dual sim I guess if you have a stukkie on the side it may be useful.
Otherwise I am impressed, that you can get a niceish phone for less then a grand, I also like Android Marshmallow I just hope it allows for upgrades.Oh and where the samsung struggled to get signal I get signal even 3G with the hisense while not full signal, it's still decent.
