After a significant amount of frustration being taken to the mobile site on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, I googled how to get rid of it and here is the answer. Took me a while though.

1. Open the Android Honeycomb browser on your tablet.
2. In the address bar, type:*about:debug*and press enter.
3. Now open the browser's settings by tapping the icon in the very top-right corner of your screen (it looks like four horizontal lines) and selecting "Settings" from the drop-down menu that appears.
4. On the left side of the screen, tap the section labeled "Debug."
5. On the right side of the screen, tap the item labeled "UAString," then select "Desktop."
6. Press the back button (in the very bottom-left corner of your screen) to exit the browser's settings.
7. In the browser's address bar, type:*about:debug*once more; this will disable debugging mode and return the browser to its normal state.

You're done!

If you run Ice Cream Sandwich, just open the stock browser, select settings and tick "Request desktop version".

Done.

I dumped Firefox after many, many years when I started receiving incessant "security certificate" warnings. What a relief, no more going in and clicking "accept" 20 times a day. Im no longer browser loyal' if it works without irritating me I use it.

It is not an Android thing. It is a browser issue, and the first reply in the thread is good enough (and should be generic) answer. Your browser should have an option to render the destop view.

It is also not just a browser issue, though. For example on myBB you could unintentionally get the mobile view even on your desktop and then fiddle to get the desktop view back. It is some bugs in the myBB setup, not your browser, cookies or vbulletin.

That "significant amount of frustration being taken to the mobile site" - was it on any website or myBB? See thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...t-Full-Site-quot-on-android-Samsung-Galaxy-S2

Sounds great but is icecrem available in SA?

Our service providers are really bad with this, so you'll have to do it yourself.

To give you an idea - Vodacom still releases the Galaxy S2 with Gingerbread 2.3.4 firmware. :wtf:

What I did on my Eee Pad Transformer is install the Android Firefox Browser and use Phone to change my setting to desktop While you at it you may as well add adblock plus to your mobile firefox.

Firefox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox
Phony https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/phony/
Adblock https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/addon/adblock-plus/

You do realize that free websites rely on ad revenue to keep running? By disabling ads you're hurting their revenue and only making it harder for them to give you quality content?

If everyone blocked ads, all websites would be subscription only.

Thats why I white list sites I frequent, like MyBB, Gizmodo and so on. If all sites could just use ads better I probably would not do this.

Qwikslver I agree. On sites i get a lot of info from and on free android apps i do look at some adds. I wonder myself how sustainable the industry is?

As we move into the information age, stuff that was paid for have and are becomimg free. Already in some first world countries, voice calls in the same province/ state are free. And that accross diffirent carriers.

I just wish we can get proper sites in SA to buy music and movies from legally. I tried Nokia Ovi which is great but you cant listen to the song first on Android.
