So, my cellphone bill is getting a little out of hand this month - so I decided to log onto vodacom4me and check out my itemised billing. Anyway, I've been making alot of calls - so it's all good.

One thing I noticed, there is a charge "VodafoneL 12 August 3.43AM 0 minutes 0 data transfered R8.77"

Now, presumably this is for some sort of subscription service. I am so carefull not to subscribe to any services. I don't use any funny things like weather on my cellphone, so I really don't think I subscribed to or anything. I've only been on vodaphone live once, thought it was rubbish - now a R8.77 excl charge every month. And to be charged R10 a month (inc VAT) it's not such a big deal, I just want it cancelled. Why waste money?

This is where the holding part comes in...24 minutes and counting. Are there people at the call center? If it's this busy, vodacom should hire more poeple. They do have enough customers to warrant it. PS. The music is ****in rediculous. And No. I won't push the damn hash key. I want the phone to be answered now.

Hang up and call again. Often I get through immediately.

lol shame boet. sometimes i think that is what they try and achieve. because now eventually you will decide stuff that and just keep paying the R10. so they make more money out of you cause its to much effort to cancel the service. have you tried cancelling it on vodacom4me.co.za?

It's not like a service. It shows up in the call lists itemised billing. Very wierd.

So customer call does call back. Interesting. Wait. I'm not excited. Customer Care doens't know what this charge is, so they phoned the data help desk. They seem to think, vodacom charges me R8.77 everymonth exactly for surfing. It's not a service aparently.

Customer Care transferred me to 155, 155 told me to call 1082. I'm going to kill someone. And the damn **** music doesn't help. It's actually fitting "I don't care..."

Ok. So 155 answered the phone. I'm speaking to a man named Willem. Willem tells me that I must have subscribed to a vodafone live service, even though I don't have a vodafone live phone. I didn't - but what's important is that I want it cancelled. Apparently, you can only cancel it yourself on the vodafone live portal, which I can only access with a vodafone live phone, which I don't and have never had. He then told me that someone must have taken my sim-card and used it in their vodaphone live phone. I told him that is impossible. I don't lend poeple my things. EVER. He refused to give me his statement in writing, so that I can futher persue this. I don't want my money back, it's probably less than R120. What I do want, is this damn R10 per month service cancelled T O D A Y.

Aparently it can't be cancelled, unless I put my simcard into a vlive branded phone and cancel it there.

Lovely vodacom, LOVELY.

Broken1,

Log into Vodacom4me website and click on "My Account" and then "Services", you can see all the services which are active on your account. Click on the "Modify Services" tab and you can deactivate most of the things there. Hope the one which is costing you R10 is there.

Dear Vodacom

A simple search on the Mybroadband.co.za forums indicates that you can infact log onto the vlive web portal (live.vodafone.com) on a NON V-LIVE branded cellphone. This proves your 155 call-center ADVANCED Technition wrong. I wonder what information they give when there is a REAL problem.

Disregarding that fact. It's absolutely rediculous that one cannot cancell a service which is being billed for, without having to spend more money going online and cancelling it. What's the purpose of a call center?

I'm not going to threaten with MNP as I know Cell-C is worse, and I can't be sure MTN is any better. I am left in the same position of many south africans - I just have to deal with it.

I would also like to note, that it took me less than 5 minutes to do something that I was kept holding (after speaking to an operator) for 30 minutes to be told it cannot be done.

I would like to compliment you as a company, as it is the first time in 2 whole months that I have been upset with your service.
Regards,

It is a Vlive service, which appears in my itemised billing report, which can only be cancelled on the vlive portal. :D

No. When you hit the IVR, instead of selecting the most obvious complaint, rather go for New Application or something to do with Voda making bucks - they answer almost immediately :D Insist that the person who answered your call handle the query - they all have access to the whole system ;)

you obviously didn't know the following until now:

so how did you originally use vodafone live?

i've set up vodafone live on non-branded phones and it works fine

I didn't :) They assure me it can only be set up on the v-live portal (and cancelled on the vlive portal) but then again, they also assured me it can only be done with a v-live phone.

 What ever...
