Home Affairs back online after power outage knocks ID and passport issuing offline

It's all systems go at Home Affairs offices as power has been restored at the department's back office in Pretoria.

Citizens can visit offices from today for all Home Affairs services, including smart ID cards and passports.

Well I need to go and do my passport next week (or at least try to)... gonna be a fun exercise to see if they're working and whether load shedding is gonna fsck them over as well (its a given that most Home Affairs offices have zero backup power)
