Home Affairs stats show green ID book can only be declared invalid in five years

I honestly didn't put you down as being female but it makes sense now if you are Jewish with that high pitched voice
it all depends, what I sound like in my head, VS what I sound like in reality is very different,
also Hebrew VS English, VS terrible broken Afrikaans,

so yes I sound very strange, look very different from my ID book, and confuse the hell out of everybody if I'm the same person,
for all I know I must have an Evil twin who belongs to the local branch of the Israeli Mafia.

at least you dont get the "you cant possibly be the same person on this ID photo" look everytime I go to open an account, rent a car, or self verify via an app,

I think they can at least confirm my skin colour and my gender, although hearing my voice, they sometimes think I didnt hit puberty yet.
How do you rent a car without a valid driver's licence?

So it's good news that some people can't get the better ID card?

Next year we are going to get our passports renewed and we going to do this at the same time. I'm not waiting for the government to wake up on the 30th of some month and declare these books invalid by 21st of the next month, like they did with the SASSA cards. We were lucky with that as it was, if hadn't been for my ward councilor giving early warning we wouldn't have gotten in front of the chaos.

So then Green ID books will be valid forever, I submitted my application at the beginning of January, haven't heard a thing since and can't get hold of anyone on any of the supplied query routes, phones are never answered (I am 40 phone calls in at this point) and emails are never acknowledged let alone answered.

Can someone explain how Zimbabwe got biometric passports and e-gates at their airports before we did!?! wth....
There are egates at cape Town International, you just rarely get to use them.

So far I've used them once (July last year), out of around 8 international arrivals over the last 4 years. Wasn't allowed to use them the time after, but queue was short, think it's if the queue is very long they sometimes allow them to be used.

Our passports are not biometric though? we don't have the logo and they dont work on the global machines? I hope we're not doing some useless local thing instead of just complying with global standards lol.

No idea, there's an electronic chip so I'm guessing it gets the name from. It and does a scan of the passport for face recognition.

Could also be the Amazon route, somewhere someone else is sitting remotely and manually doing it.

We acknowledge your contribution!

Guess who was part of the problem and never tried resolving it?
