Yes you can.

There are YouTube guides.

The state of the physical switch is monitored by the Shelly so you can use the app or the physical switches interchangably - it doesn't matter at all.

Disclaimer - that's with one switch, I'm not sure about 2 switches on each end.
I have a few 2 ways which I'm trying to wore with a shelly. At the moment not going to well but I just need to figure out which of the 2 wires is common and which is output to the light. Then it should work.

Yeah I did this on shelly2.5s no issue. I think the dimmer is more interesting if you want dimming from the button. But technically should work.

Thanks for the replies. Will have a look at some videos to see what is possible.

With the 2.5 did you use both SW outputs or just one?

Although I didn't get that with normal use (I have Ubiquiti APs) I used to experience similar after loadshedding.

Fortunately I've also been able to bind specifc devices to specific APs thus eliminating the issue as well.
Another option on Unifi instead of binding is enabling minimum rsi setting. This prevent any device with a too bad connection, connecting to a specific AP. You will very quickly learn where you have spots with bad connections that possibly need another AP in that location.

Has anybody used these dimmers from Robofactory:

Looks like a generic make that also works with the Ewelink app. How do you get this into HA? This will work easier in my case than the Shelly dimmer since there is already 2-way switches installed. So 1 will be replaced with this dimmer switch and the other 1 with a Sonoff T3 that will just turn on the lights to max when pressed.

Similar to this:

No offence but if you can live with the looks and aesthetic it's a good option. But I personally find them really ugly

Not sure how else to do it. There are a few downlights in the passage with a switch either end. Could just wire up the shelly dimmer to them but if someone switches off one of the switches the lights are off and cannot be controlled. And having a button that can be pressed to turn the lights on full could also be useful.

So it is one of these generic dimmers and a T3 = roughly R800, or
2x T3's and a shelly dimmer = roughly R1400.

Have you considered only hardwiring one end and using a wireless switch at the other end?

I was thinking of removing the 1 switch entirely, but there is another light at that end as well so installing a 1 gang or 2 gang doesn't really make a difference. The one I want to remove is only a 1 gang so I will have to close up the hole there then.

Getting this into HA isn't an issue - it will either use the standard Sonoff or Tuya integrations

I'm running Hass on a VM on a Windows machine. With load shedding the machine shuts off as it's not on a ups. This causes HA to break it gets stuck on autoboot- on the CLI.

Forces me to recreate the image and restore from snapshot. Is there any easier way to restore? How I can I create an autoclone job for the image everyevening and delete the old image

I have the same setup (using VirtualBox) and have no issues starting up after loadshedding. Are you running of an SSD as well?

I'm running HA on a hyper-v setup. It's never had any issues, even with (many) random power trips.

I moved it to a HD is the OS ssd is too small. Maybe that's the issue.

My HA instance is running in VirtualBox on Windows 10, using a HDD. No problems with unscheduled restarts, but I do use an app to stagger startup of apps/services on boot.

Me too. I have a setup that starts the VM about 8 minutes after the power has returned. The reason being by then my UniFi network, ISP connection and APs, Unifi controller and other iOT hubs are all up and then HASS doesn't complain about not finding things.

Works a treat.

For backup , I have a script that suspends the VM and copies it to another folder. Will update this post with the configs when I get time tomorrow
