If it were me I would "rewire/reconfigure" how these switches work.
I know shelly and sonoff mini devices are designed to fit behind light switches, but i use none of mine that way, I prefer having them in the roof, they get better wifi reception and I can run cat 5 down to the switches.

I see no reason you cant have 2 "dimmer style" switches connected in parallel to a single shelly for 2 way switching, as long as the shelly is configure for One Button mode, the changes of both being in the "closed"pressed" state at the same time is very low and shouldnt have an effect either way, as they are closing the same circuit.

A modified connection diagram as for clarification

Thanks. I ordered the dimmer switch and a Sonoff light switch so I will test that out. If it doesn't work well will try this route as well.

How have you gotten the load shedding times into Hass?

I have the sensor but not the dates and times

I also only have the sensor then have some automations based whether we are loadshedding or not. I am also looking to see where i can get the zone / area specific times for each day (City of Tshwane)

Edit: a recommendation was made to the ESPush guys to see if they can expose their API for people to import into HASS etc

Thinking of using my rudimentary python skills to build something

How have you set up your sensor? I am looking for something that will tell me when the power is back on.

There's a hacs add-on.

To notify just use a smart device that returns to power and use that status change as the indicator

All my devices is running of the generator in loadshedding, so when the power comes back on there is not enough drain on the main line into my house (municipal) for my efergy meter to detect it.

You can install a dedicated plug before the inverter (was mentioned for prepaid meters to prevent the tamper detection) or maybe an automatic changeover switch that will switch back to grid when it is on?

I get the grid frequency + voltage into HA using the Solar Assistant MQTT feed, so if loadshedding stage > 0 and frequency drops below 35Hz then my assumption is we are loadshedding. The reverse for (on frequency x) for when the power comes back

Something like this (very simple and crude)

Code:
trigger:
  - type: value
    platform: device
    device_id: 117ead9d18839677c42ebf09cb30f4e4
    entity_id: sensor.grid_frequency
    domain: sensor
    below: 35
condition:
  - condition: time
    before: '06:00:00'
    after: '18:00:00'
    weekday:
      - mon
      - tue
      - wed
      - thu
      - fri
      - sat
      - sun
  - condition: and
    conditions:
      - condition: numeric_state
        entity_id: sensor.eskom_loadshedding_stage
        attribute: stage
        above: '0'

I created a Excel sheet with the rules for my area - prepopulated for the year, export to csv - import into Google Calendar (one for each stage) - and then shared the calendars with HA (I also have the calendar on my phone)

I actually need to redo the Excel sheet, accidently lost it.

any suggestion for a qood camera that works with home assistant. I believe the only requirement is RTSP?

only 1 for now then will add more later.

I am using EzViz cameras (C3W) outside. They go for about R1k depending where/when you buy. You don't need to purchase their subscription and they work like a charm in HA and MotionEye.

I have 1 Sonoff WiFi camera that is ok, but the trap stream drops away every now and then for a few seconds. Other people don't have this issue so might be a problem with my specific one.

Otherwise reolink cameras are also good for fixed units. Using some of the POE models and the have rtsp as well.
