Random question, does anyone know if its possible to force an alarm via Pai?

Wanted to get a couple of paradox wireless smoke alarms - then saw the price... so thinking of somehow hooking up my own.
Makes sense it should be possible.

On the dsc, I can send a raw command, including a panic. Unfortunately the alarm company will then just see it as a panic without a zone nr.

You could have it send a telegram message saying it's a fire zone, which you could relay to the company

There is a Alarm: Trigger service which will probably do what you need.

The other option is that one of my PGMs is setup to trigger, and then you activate that PGM

Going to investigate it more.

That I'd do anyway, but - the idea is for them to respond when I can't.

The trigger service is specific to HA I think, it doesn't trigger the actual Paradox alarm. i.e. it triggers the HA side of the alarm so you can various automation act on it. (basically - the same thing PAI calls when the alarm is triggered)

The PGM way is actually a good idea - I'm sure it can be set to report back to them as an event - and they can have it on their side as a fire alarm.

I see the Xiaomi fire detectors are about R500 vs over R2000 for the Paradox one - and I want 5 at the moment (2x fireplace, 1x braai, 1x stove/oven, 1x 3d printer)

I've noticed my phone can't connect to the HA server on the local network. I've set the internal IP to 192.168.0.2:8123 trying both http and https. When I disconnect from the WiFi it works fine.

Are you referring to the app only?

My app doesnt work with https://homeassistant.local:8123/ or my internal IP. Only works with duckdns url set as the internal address like @ItherNiT mentioned

My phone browser (chrome) doesnt work with https://homeassistant.local:8123/ but it does work with the internal IP and the duckdns url

App needs the ssl cert (if you enabled it) if I remember correctly. Alternatively you can just set your pihole/adguard to redirect url to IP

Haven't got my adguard working. There's some issue with the router using a local DNS server. Anyway, I've just put the external URL on the internal one as well

So I just found out my place doesnt have neutral wires to my light switches.

Would it be better to get a smart switch that doesnt require neutral or pull the neutrals?

Keep in mind pulling neutrals wont be an issue or costly. My father said he can do it, he is qualified to do so.

I guess the question comes down to cost? What is the price differential between a Shelly 1 and a sonoff basic?

Pulling neutrals will be better.

Currently the Shelly module that requires no neutral is not yet approved for sale

Best to pull the neutrals then it's never a limitation in choice again. At least until you move.

I was thinking more of the smart light switches.

Not going the shelly route.

Good point. Dont think I'll be moving anytime soon. I just bought the place in Dec last year.

I have some of these, no neutrals and works with SonoffLan.

However, I did have to put in a capacitor (supplied) behind one of the lights in each of the circuits

Anybody have a working Itron integration?

The previous owner left me a Itron meter thingy that shows my current and past 12 months usage. I would like to get this data in HA.

(removed meter number)

*edit* found this thread https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/smart-meter-info-joburg-city-power.603606/page-3

Looks like it uses zigbee for communication.

Any idea/suggestions on how I can integrate this into HA?
