Yes, I'm controlling the fridge temp to 20.

The room temp comment was aimed at seth as he commented to bottle condition outside at room temp.. so was just getting an idea of what his room temp was.
Room temp is a figure of speach and is mostly excepted as ±20ºC

Not an expert, but I am bottle conditioning in my washroom in the corner at about 25, worked out fine so far for me. Not sure about shelf life, they tend not to last long in any case.

For S&G I attempted a yeast harvest from my batch last night. Poured off the remaining wort, added cooled boiled water and swirled it out. Got 2 of these jars in the fridge for 24hrs now. Does that look usable ? Reading online seems to indicate I should have 3 layers (water, yeast, trub) and not just 2?

I assume it was from your coopers kit? did you add any hops or specialty grain? if you didn't you wont have alot if any trub.

Next time skip removing the layer of beer, the alcohol and hops will protect your yeast. the water you added is just a potential infection vector. Also skip washing the yeast, it's safest and easiest to just put the yeast/trub and beer in a sanitized jar and save it till you need to use it again. the chance for infection goes up every time you try and process it and it's not really worth it.

are you trying to save the kit yeast?

Yeah .. from the kit and didn't add anything.

I more wanted to practice for when I use "expensive" yeast so I don't screw it up. Not sure if this kit yeast is usable for future brews... if not I'll toss it. I've already bought my notingham ale yeast for the next batch.

I went through the same uncertainty, everyone I asked said to do the above, but tbh I'm finding it easier to just over propagate a starter and store the excess, the yeast isn't as stressed and there is no trub that you need to worry about.

Anyone have an idea of how many mls equals the recommended 10g per litre?
Keep in mind that sodium percarbonate ONLY sterilizes for about 20 minutes after mixing. After that the chemical reaction is done, your hydrogen peroxide is gone and it is NOT an effective sanitizer. So use it for sanitizing IMMEDIATELY after mixing.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll be using it only for cleaning as I have other sanitising liquid.

I use it for my kegs and beerline.
