Ok it is done...took an old Hoover fridge of mine for the purpose of a fermentation chamber.

Fridge on top and deepfreeze at the bottom.

25lt vessels fit with ease on top and bottom ...even my 60lt drum fermenter fits easily in the top fridge.

I know I must now get a temperature controller and I have read about the STC 1000 on this forum but here's my question. Does it control the temp of the bottom freezer to...or only the top fridge

I placed my fermentation fridge in my one garage and while cleaning and prepping the new addition to my brewing tools I noticed many goodies to sell to assist my budget in obtaining my GrainFather....so be it

This would depend on the wiring of your fridge/freezer. Most combifridges are not wired for one section to be off and the other on.

So I accidentally ordered an "alcohol-o-meter" instead of a gravity meter, no worries bought another one. Fiance just snapped it in half...

So that's like R900 in hydrometers in a week.
I got one for 109 bucks last week, it has 3 scales

By accident?

Get a refractometer, they are not that expensive.

First bottle of barleywine cracked - left it 2 months to age the rest will be opened on Christmas. This is a 10.5% beast very very very low carb, this is def a slow sipping (more winter beer). this has a very nice toffee/caramel flavor. Followed Palmers fighting Urakai beer recipe. This is going to be great next year onwards (its already great!)

No braai today. Bottled 23 litres of Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale. I am not a huge fan of Morgans but it was the only cans available a while ago.

Every Morgans I made bubbled like crazy for 2 days then it gets stuck. This one was in the fermenter for 4 weeks!

I am going to start 2 this week. One Morgans and one Coopers. Side by side for comparison. But to the pichas!
