I had 35 crates of quart bottles. Some full, some half and the other empty. I got rid of about 10 the last few days. 6 to my neighbor for his beer and 4 to the bottle store.

I am going to rotate my Lion stock from now on. Buy 2 cases a week to replace the empties and check when I need bottles.

I currently have 11 full cases of Lion an 6 home brews with another 46 liter to bottle next weekend.

Damn - you're streets ahead of any prohibition. On hand, I am 50L of beer and 15L of cider ahead. One month could wipe that out. You're sitting at the very least on 200L

I am not falling for that "With immediate effect" s#!t again. LOL!
I made that decision last time. We have had a standing rule: A new case of Guinness comes out of the stockpile on one of two conditions: it is replaced or it is irreplaceable. Irreplaceable won but we also started brewing again after a long time. I keep a few cans for a guaranteed result and the rest is grain. But I am not currently ahead far enough. I need to make another 40L this weekend.

Back in the early days, I got tired of bottling really quickly. The only way I could think of back then to cut my time was to eliminate corking. I did that by getting a few cases of Grolsch and drinking them over time and keeping that growler bottle. Even now, I have more grolsch bottles than crown bottles. In the long term, it is a happy strategy.
Kegging is awesome if you are a hermit at home.
But there is no ****ing way I am strapping a keg of beer to my back and hopping on my motorbike to go somewhere

What a shitty day...After my morning run I was greeted by a bottle bom from my Amber Ale batch.

What a mess. Took forever to clean everything up.

Think the heat wave of this week played a major role because the beer was bottled for only three days.

And guess what?...
Yea it was followed by another two bottle boms in my outdoor braai area after work and while cleaning that mess I heard the fourth one go off at my indoor braai that I forgot to take outside...Frikken war zone I kid you not.

Bloody hell...spent the whole ****ing day cleaning. Luckily no injuries.

I quickly cleared one chest freezer and loaded three crates to chill and three others in my bedroom to cool down under the aircon.

Think kegging is the way to go...geewiz!!!...dangerous and destructive weapons... DON'T try this at home.

My first bottle boms....and sommer 4 on one day...now I can call myself a brewer.

Funny thing though...the other beers did not pop at all....only the Amber Ale ...all 4 of them...and I batch primed them just like all the others.

120g of sugar per 20lt...and another thing is.... it's my favorite beer the Ambel Ale... guess this is what they call Murphy's Law.

if you did 120g per 20l it was not done with priming fermentation. You need to check FG and it needs to be stable for 3 days at least before bottling - that means checking three times. You should be fermenting 1-2 weeks minimum. Dont rush this process - not worth it. I also only batch prime. Are you boiling up the sugar with water to ensure its properly dissolved before adding the beer?

Also use this

I am on batch 12 now and never had a bottle bomb once

Yes surething...I usually leave it for 2 weeks and the boil 120g sugar for 5 minutes...but I did check final gravity and it was at 1006 but did not check to see if it was stable for three days... usually it is after 14 days.

Not sure why but I think this heat of the last two days might have been to much....40 degrees today on the car's temp display.

Wow those temps must have been the issue. I personally don't even check if it's that low. Can't fault what you did then.

See if you can get the beer to a cooler spot

Yes....the first bomb but the rest were upright.

But like you said.... don't know if it makes any difference.

Just checked my other babies and all is well....

Halve spent the night with me in my bedroom with aircon and other halve in fridges...think they are all in a stable condition now.

It's my brother in law's birthday party tonight and one case is for him as a present... can't believe he lost 4 from his case due to bottle bombs yesterday...lol

What are the odds of all four being his... :p

Today's going to be another warm one - trying to keep the stout cool is going to be a mission.

No better way of getting a party started than pitching up with a keg
**** that
I work hard making beer
Im not gonna hand out 30 litres of beer
If I ever do arrive on my motorbike.
And then you need nitrogen and a lever and something to keep the beer cold.

No ways, kegs are for home only

My 2 brews went from 1.052 to 1.006 in 5 days  Very strong alcohol taste. I will keep checking so that I might bottle on Sunday. Temps was 22 to 24 degrees

Strong alcohol taste is because of the 2kg of Dextrose you added to each brew. Dextrose gives alcohol and just that. No body, no mouthfeel, no flavour.

Alcohol taste should mellow out with age.

Not in these beers made with dextrose. A 6% beer without the balanced BU:GU numbers to back up that ABV will always be boozy.
