I still need to get around to building myself a mash tun.

How many liters is the cooler box that you are using?

Thanks, will check it out. Wanting to build a tun before this weekend....

If either of you are in Cape Town, and are looking for a cooler box, I've got a 45l one (the last one from my bulk buy earlier this year). Yours for R150, if you want it.

Unfortunately my brewing is not advanced enough to get involved this year, but who knows, maybe we can plan for the years ahead & get SA also on the brewers map ?

Of course the guy behind it all is actually SJPORR

So whats the best beer you guys have tasted, that's actually available to the public?
Went to Gillroy's a few weeks back, man was the beer delicious, they have one called the "favorite", which evidently is my favorite :p
But to drive the whole way, and make a week reservations...:crying:
Our local spar has lots of craft beer, but nothing compares with Gillroys.
Going to the "Brewing Cockpit" next week in Cullinan, hopefully they will have something to substitute my unbelievable first for the "Favorite"
One thing i have noticed after visiting Gillroy's, the local beers like Castle, Windhoek, Black Label etc all have a huge amount of gas inside them, you cant take a sip without burping, while with Gillroy's, you can down a 500ml without even thinking of burping.

Why don't we have any Ale's available?

Check out the MyBeerCraft App. You can search for venues/shops/breweries/styles/etc.
For example, I see that the Gilroy's "Favourite" is an English Pale Ale, and that CockPit Brewhouse also make an English Pale Ale, called the "Spitfire".
You get the idea...

Also, I think it's worth pointing out that, apart from rare occurances, beer on tap is always better than beer from a bottle. So, no, stuff you buy from Spar won't measure up to stuff you had "straight from the source"

Sweet App, thanks!!
I normally drank Windhoek draught (the on Tap one's), After Gillroy's, everything just tastes ****. To anyone drinking Windhoed, black Label, Castle etc, never drink real beer, there is no turning back...:crying:

I'm not sure why everyone and their dog is into crafty beer these days, very hipster IMO.
Having been to the States, I'm confident that Budweiser is the best beer I have ever had.:)

Beer is very bad for dogs, you really shouldn't feed it to them.

I am really happy for you, don't create a demand for craft beer it will only push the prices up even more.
Let the people drink what they enjoy and don't push anyone towards craft beer.

Devil's Peak IPA is the best SA beer I have ever tasted. Anything from Devil's Peak actually.
